The all Decade Defense
Recently, as we all saw in "The Linc", ESPN.com released its version of the All-decade defense. This list of players highlighted the best player at each defensive position during the current decade (they couldn't wait until the decade to pull the trigger on this idea, I guess). In case you missed it from the other day, you can find the story here. While I do feel like this is a pretty interesting idea, like most eagles fans, I was struck that Brian Dawkins was merely an honorable mention and did not make the list. Iggles Blog did a great job of making the case for Dawkins, but this apparent gaff got me thinking...if we were to make the list, who would be on it? I am by no means an expert on the NFL during the 2000's. I may be an obsessive eagles fan, but I won't pretend to know everything about every team over a ten...er...nine year stretch. Let's try this out...who would be on your all-decade defense? Not just eagles, but all of the NFL. Do you agree with what ESPN listed, or do you think they are about as knowledgable about this as they are about the eagles "WR woes"? If this turns out to be fun, we can make an all decade offense next and we could try and get some bloggers from fellow teams involved in both convos. If not, at least I'm not advertising my blog, eh?

CB Troy Vincent
didn’t he make it?
how many people did they take? if it was 11 we should happy with 1, if they took 26, still 1 better than none
I think Dawkins should've made it over Polamalu!
All-Decade Defense
DE: Michael Strahan, N.Y. Giants,
DT: Warren Sapp, Tampa Bay/Oakland
DT: Kris Jenkins, Carolina/N.Y. Jets
DE: Jason Taylor, Miami/Washington
LB: Derrick Brooks, Tampa Bay
LB: Ray Lewis, Baltimore
LB: Brian Urlacher, Chicago
CB: Champ Bailey, Washington/Denver
CB: Troy Vincent: Phil./Mia./Buff./Wash.
S: Ed Reed, Baltimore
S: Troy Polamalu, Pittsburgh
He would have had to make it over Ed Reed (FS) …. Polamalu is a SS if they did it that way, which they may not have considering the LBs listed are all SAMs. In all honesty Dawk and Reed is pretty close I’m biased so I’m going with Dawk here but mainly because he has played the entire decade.

As much as I love B-Dawk...
I can’t put him over Reed…Reed is an absolute beast and playmaker…B-Dawk finishes slightly behind…
Vincent only played half the decade...
I would have to replace him with Ty Law…or maybe Charles Woodson…maybe I’m biased because I’m a Michigan fan…
I see a fundamental flaw with that list
They forgot Sean Considine
About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.
Who would the all offense team be?
I put two in each for argument sake…
QB – Peyton / Brady
RB – LT / Alexander
FB – Neal / Richardson
WR – Harrson / Moss
WR – Owens / Holt
TE – Gonzalez / Gates
Skipped OL out of laziness…
Here it is
All-Decade Offense
QB: Tom Brady, New England
RB: LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego
FB: Lorenzo Neal, Cincinnati/S.D./Balt.
WR: Marvin Harrison, Indianapolis
WR: Torry Holt, St. Louis
TE: Tony Gonzalez, Kansas City
T: Walter Jones, Seattle
T: Jonathan Ogden, Baltimore
G: Alan Faneca, Pittsburgh/N.Y. Jets
G: Steve Hutchinson, Seattle/Minnesota
C: Olin Kreutz, Chicago
Peyton's better than Brady
other than that, afew others are debatable, but no biggy.
