NFL owners are looking to expand to an 18 game season in 2012.

Best/Worst of Philly: Uniforms
OK - well, our blog has been a little too "newsy" recently for my taste, so I’m starting a new Best/Worst of Philly segment that should generate some good discussion.

T.O.: I still miss Philly | Philly | 06/20/2009
It's been nearly four years since Terrell Owens was a member of the Eagles, but the wide receiver says he still misses Philly.

Iggles Blog - Philadelphia Eagles Blog: Free Donte
First of all, know that I'm not just looking to stir up trouble here. This isn't a controversy-for-clicks deal. I really believe these things. With that said, it's not hard to see that I'm out of step with, well, everything...

no you're not

I’m also willing to bet that many NFL players feel the same way we do. Short-term and selfishly, i love it. Two more weeks of doing what i love the most is great, but injury/wear and tear problems sketch me out a little.

Also, i still don’t understand the whole twitter thing. Why do celebrities and shit care if people care what their doing? It seems like twitter pays people for the more followers they have. I know that is silly, but by the way people advertise their twitter, it leads me to believe that. Maybe i just don’t get it. Jason, is there any benefit to having more followers or is it just for fun? i’d love to know.

Totally agree...

Goodell is rapidly becoming a really irritating figure in sports. His reasoning for the 18-game schedule is “to put out the best possible product they can for the fans,” but that’s pretty much a total lie. For starters, from what I can tell, the majority of fans aren’t i favor of it.

Have they done any studies or surveys of what the fans want? No.

Is it in the fans’ best interest to have an exclusive agreement with DirecTV for the “Sunday Ticket,” when many fans don’t have the capability of mounting a satellite dish in their living situation, or perhaps just don’t want to deal with a company with questionable service such as DirecTV? Resounding no.

Is it in the fans’ best interest to let a pissing contest with Cablevision and other cable providers get in the way of fans being able to watch the NFL Network? No.

So do the fans a favor Goodell… Call it what it is… More revenue… And let’s try a little harder not to insult the intellegence of your customers.

I just think the NFL is so good the way it is with the 16 game schedule. Every game means something, but it’s not so short that it’s “lose 1 and you’re out”. An 18 game season just means even more injuries and shorter careers.

I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.

Yup...

And less talented teams winning simply because they stayed healthy.

it doesn’t matter. the world is going to end in 2012 anyway.

good point

I sure hope the Eagles win the superbowl before then.

Yeah, if the Eagles win right before the world ends, we have bragging rights for the rest of eternity in the afterlife.

With our luck

I can see it now. Donovan McNabb will be leading a successful 2 minute drill. The Eagles are making great use of the clock and moving the ball effectively. With 30 seconds left and the Eagles with a first down on the opposition’s 10 yard line and all three time outs left, the world will suddenly come to an end.

Uniforms

My dad used to bitch about how much he hated the white helmets with the green wings back in the 70’s.

While the 2007 throwback uniforms were stunningly awful, I kind of liked the powder blue shorts on the cheerleaders.

I’m glad they’re not the every-game uniforms, but i thought it was cool that the team wore the powder-blue and yellows for 1 game.

I was at that game and it was a blast, so I bought one a Westbrook jersey and I also own of the hats. The problem is, the 75th anniversary stuff doesn’t match anything except other 75th anniversary stuff. So, any time I wear the jersey I have to wear the matching hat, and vice versa. Outwitted by Joe Banner again!

And, for all my fond memories of Kelly Green, I think the current shade of green looks better.

I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.
