what the hell MJD
I was looking @ yahoo sports today and on a article of the five biggest quarterback battles.
1) Vikings (T Jack V.S Rose then fells vs Brett) 2)Browns (Brady Quinn vs Derek Anderson) 3) Radiers (Russel vs former eagle Jeff) 4) 49ers (Hill vs Smith) and 5) the EAGLES???? what the hell has happen??? we have gone from the unoffical NFC east champs to this shit again? Man....MJD has lost it. I mean Jets and Bucs are way bigger than us.
What do u gus think? Am I right or am I right?

The QB Controversy
Doesn’t exist. If we had a proven QB sitting behind McNabb, it COULD be a different story. But, the suggestion that Kolb could come in and perform better than a proven top 10 QB is absurd. It enfuriates me when I hear morons say that McNabb needs to go. That being said, I myself, being a McNabb supporter, find myself becoming very angry when I see him throw 3 straight easy “NFL QB” throws at the feet of the receivers, laugh it off and then roll to the sidelines with a big smile on his face only to stand there yawning. The lack of fire does upset me at times, but he’s still a very strong player who now has the weapons he needs to take us over the top.

MJD, what the “f” is wrong with you, why would you put D. mac on this list when there’s a bunch of QB competition out there. First off, between D.mac and kolb, ain’t no competition there. Alright, so he got benched and was mad but we’ve moved pass that. The o-line has been upgraded with youth and talent, so he looks to having a full and healthy season(like in 08). So do yourself the favor and don’t waste your time to write this [profane]ty article. If you don’t follow Philly sports, don’t attempt to write like you do or include it in your analysis.

5. Philadelphia Eagles: Donovan McNabb(notes) vs. Kevin Kolb(notes). Yes, it’s a stretch to suggest that there will be any sort of quarterback controversy here, but you never know. McNabb did get benched last year. The reason I find it so interesting is that McNabb is so grossly under appreciated, and Kolb is so clearly not ready to be a starting quarterback, and yet, there are fans in Philadelphia who want to see Kolb under center. Those people deserve to see exactly that.
Raise your hand if you would rather see Kolb under center? Anyone? Anyone? Yup, didn’t think so
"If they end up 2-14 and both of those wins came against Dallas, that's a pretty good year."
I'm sitting on my hands
I hope someday Kolb has a very successful carreer wherever he plays, Philly or not, just not here anytime soon.

Maybe…MAYBE someday Kolb will be ready to play under center for us. But for the next few years, McNabb is our man. This article was a waste of time, just written to stir up controversy.
Fly, Eagles, Fly...
This is a RETARTED article
This stupid blogger is either just trying to start controversy ,or he has NO IDEA whats going on in the NFL. There is absolutely NO QB controversy in Philly. Kolb is anxious, but he seems to know his place. I mean the Packers kept their 1st round pick in moth balls till Favre retired (the first time :)) I think the expectations for a late 1st round QB are much higher than a late second round QB.

Not that bad...
I think there are a good number of people in Philadelphia that want to see Kolb under center, however since none of them work in the Eagles organization its not really a controversy…definitely not in the top 5…
At least it was prefaced with “Yes, its a stretch”…
thats is definitely bad dude
with all the other controversy, and the lack of it here, he must of had a nice intake of mari-juana before writing this
To me the Eagles are like that girlfriend that pisses u off, then u hate her, but the next morning you wake up and remember that thing u love so much about her

False
At least it was prefaced with "Yes, its a stretch"…
There are several other situations in the NFL where there is no stretch needed, so the fact that it made someones top 5 list when places with real QB problems like the the Bucs, Jets and Bronco’s didn’t, just shows how bad this guy is.
I think there are a good number of people in Philadelphia that want to see Kolb under center,
I think you are wrong. I think there are a good number of dummies who just want to bitch and toss blame around. Point is, you dance with the one that brought you. Last years performance showed just how very capable 5 still is.
Show me one person who would rather see Kolb play with all these new toys and not Donny, and I’ll show you a Cowpuke or Vagiants fan

Those "dummies" reside in Philadelphia is my point...
The fact that there is a “Great Donovan Debate” with plenty of people on both sides shows you…I think Donovan is a top QB and gets a bad wrap, but I see / hear plenty of fans bitching on blogs, on the radio, in the grocery store, at work, etc. about hating Donovan and can’t wait until his time is up…
Just because you think all those people are dumb or not true fans doesn’t mean they don’t exist…
I guess to me, what makes them "not exist"
is the fact that as soon as he gets on a hot streak that noise seems to pipe down pretty quickly. There was no “Great Donovan Debate” last year heading into the Cardinals game, not one peep. Just because there are a few fickle assholes who start calling for Donny’s head after every bad play, does not in any way account for some sort of majority.

You're completely naive...
if you think its a few…and i’m not talking about Monday morning QBs emotional and upset about a game that happened yesterday…Months later people are still upset…
There is no “Great Drew Brees” debate or “Great Philip Rivers” debate…they had bad games and they didn’t make the Super Bowl…
I have no clue what the percentages are, and I don’t know if its a “majority”, but I do know its a lot more than it should be…
You are naive
Months later people are still upset…
because the season is over, there is nothing else to do but lament and bitch for some people. Do you think those same people would be so vocal if we were in the season and Donny had us at say 2-0 or 3-0, not a one, I guarantee it, why, because that would be just plain stupid.
Philadelphia fans are some of the most passionate and knowledgeable fans out there, problem is some of them have more passion than they do knowledge. I think those are the ones you hear all the time. Guys who don’t really know much more than that they want to win. Those are the guys who sit around bitter all the time, calling for decapitation.
Those are the same guys who loose sight of how good we really have it. The fact that our team is and has been a perennial contender pretty much every year since Andy and Donny came to town, should be testament enough that they are doing a great job.

I agree with your thoughts about the Eagles
You seem to be agreeing with me about the fans…
I am a passionate Eagles fan that thinks the FO does a good job (among the elite few in the league) and I think Donovan is a top 5-7 QB that should have great support from the fans…
I’m saying that it boggles my mind the number of people that I hear on ESPN radio, WIP, read on NFL.com comments, read on Philly.com comments, read on ESPN.com comments that do not agree about the FO, Andy Reid, or McNabb…
I’ve been in other football cities after big losses and there isn’t the anti-QB and FO ground swell that there is here…that doesn’t make it right or wrong, I’m just pointing it out…
I think we are clumping together several different factions
I think a lot of it stems from us as fans Boo-ing. I’m a huge boo-er, doesn’t mean I want the guy off my team, just means that I thought he could’ve done a little better, I can best vocalize that with one simple sound BOOOOOOOOOO
Seems to me most everyone in Philly does the same thing.
The problem is that the media likes to take that and run with it. Make us out to be a bunch of raving lunatics ready to run anyone and everyone outta town after one bad play.
I mean really, if I have to hear about how some fans at the draft Boo-ed the McNabb pick one more time im gonna puke. GET OVER IT. I am 100 percent sure if you were to track down anyone boo-ing in that video, and asked them if they had the chance to do it over again, would they still want Ricky….I’m not even gonna answer that.
All I’m trying to say is that from the media’s perspective, you would think that the entire city of Philadelphia went outside and Boo-ed the Donovan pick in unison.
The same thing can be said for this whole Donny debate thing. I haven’t heard one actual fan on this site step up and seriously say Donny has to go. You know why, because that kind of crap and the “Great we need a #1 receiver debate” is featured several times a day over at GCobb and Yardbarker.
DAMN I love BGN!

All of these outlets...
where people are bitching are some representative sample of the Eagles fanbase whether we like it or not…
Do you know what Mike Missannelli does for a living?
He is a sports talk show host. When he starts something like, The Great Donovan Debate, its not because there is any real need to have that debate, its because it will get people talking, and calling in, and most of all, listen to his show.
I think we are on the same page for the most part, but I just disagree that there is some huge movement of dissident fans looking for a house cleaning.
If Mikey Mizz didnt start “The Great Donovan Debate” for ratings, it never would have happened.

True...but you must admit...
there was a good number of anti-McNabb sentiment there…and Angelo gets the same thing (even tho him and most of the callers are completely clueless)…
And if those formats work so well for stirring things up, then they would happen more often in other cities…maybe its because we are more passionate, but that is also why there are more “controversies” here…because you can’t create something in Denver or Carolina or Jacksonville if nobody is talking about it…
Can we please just stop giving any merit to this AT ALL...
McNabb is the starter. Period. Moving along…
You got it!
maybe its because we are more passionate
Thats it exactly. Don’t forget this is a city where it doesn’t matter that its the NBA playoffs or not, its still I’d say around 65% Eagles talk.

Correct...and thats why nat'l media talks about Eagles fans...
Not all, but many of the national guys have a good perspective of many NFL cities and are comparing things at a wholistic level…and to us there idiots because there not on every Eagles blog checking out what every fan has to say…when what they are doing is getting a pulse for all 32 teams and comparing it, something most of us are not…personally, i think both have value…
We are haunted...
Its like everything bad that ever happened in 5’s career keeps getting thrown back in our face. We booed him when he was drafted. How many times do we have to hear that one? McNabb threw up in the Super Bowl. Let the jokes continue. Terrell Owens and McNabb had a falling out. Yeah, I watched it. We get it. McNabb gets benched against the Ravens. Bring out the hype machine! Kolb says he wants to start. Well who wouldn’t? I mean, does any other team go through this? When Romo got the start ahead of Deadsoe was there a constant drumming of interest? How about Roethlesburger starting ahead of Tommy Maddox? Hell, I feel like Rodgers vs. Favre has gotten less play. What is it about McNabb that is such a lightning rod?
We booed him when he was drafted.
Maybe you booed him but please don’t lump me into that group of people. There were a select few people that booed at the draft and probably a lot more at home. I never have and never will boo a draft pick, even if it isn’t a popular choice.
by Iggles Fan 4 Life on Jun 2, 2009 5:36 PM EDT up reply actions
I never booed him either
But thats the storyline Philly is always hit with every season with McNabb. “oh they booed him at the draft, clearly they have a problem with him, blah blah blah blah.” I mean, we get reminded of it time and again. The storyline is driven by the vocal minority that booed him at the draft and continue to boo him every time he farts in the wrong direction.

Yeah...
JIBTA agreed to write out all his thoughts about anything and everything in a long FanPost, so that we could pull it up midseason almost like a time capsule and see what he got right/wrong. He didn’t write it. (shaking fist) JIBTAAAAAA!!!
mcnabb will be our QB
for the next 3 or 4 years but i dont kno if Kolb is NFL material yet anyway i mean he got his first shot against one of the meanest defenses in the league but he looked a lil scared out there and you wont survive long in philly coming out like that

Im sorry to say this but....
I don’t think kolb is the one for us in the future….I want him to be a success but I just not sure…
Id love for there to be a QB controversy in Philly,
but there’s as much one in Philly as there is one in Indianapolis.
If we have a QB controversy, the Giants must have one too w/ Carr and Sheli…
"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."
