3 Eagles Cut Before Training Camp
This afternoon, Dave Spadaro of PhiladelphiaEagles.com announced that the team has released quarterback Adam DiMichele and running back Walter Mendenhall. In addition, defensive tackle Amon Gordon was waived after suffering a torn Achilles tendon prior to OTAs. Here's a brief look at where this leaves us at each position heading into training camp:
Quarterback:
Although DiMichele was not widely believed to provide serious competition for our current three quarterbacks, there was always the chance he could have beaten out aging QB A.J. Feeley for the number three spot. DiMichele's departure solidifies our three-QB depth chart as Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb, and Feeley.
Running Back:
While popular among the fans of BleedingGreenNation, the older brother of Rashad Mendenhall apparently did not impress the coaches enough to earn an invitation to training camp. With Westbrook out until the regular season, this leaves us with Lorenzo Booker, LeSean McCoy, and Eldra Buckley with plenty of playing time to fight for the backup positions. Interestingly enough, we still have three fullbacks on our roster: Leonard Weaver, Kyle Eckel, and Marcus Mailei. Since Weaver is the clear starter, I'm guessing Eckel and maybe Mailei will turn thier attention to the halfback position.
Defensive Tackle:
At a crowded position, Gordon's departure frees up a little space for the rest of the bunch to battle it out. There's no telling whether Andy Reid and Co. will decide to go with three or four DT's this season, but one thing's for sure. Barring an injury or a surprise trade, the top three spots will be taken by Mike Patterson, Brodrick Bunkley, and Trevor Laws. The remaining spot (if there even is one) will have to be fought over by Dan Klecko, Jervonte Jackson, and Trevor Jenkins.

Mendenhall is the older brother.
"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."

Damn
I would have liked to see someone push Feeley for a roster spot.

Why?
What’s Feeley ever done wrong for us? He may not have been strong for other teams after he left us…but he’s gotta be the best 3rd string QB in the league…the dude wins games (or he’s the first one to come really close against the 2007 undefeated Pats) I love having Feeley on the roster.

When I look at this team, I still don't feel as though we are very far away, we still have to work hard and do the things we are capable of, but we do have the chance to get back and come back strong." -Brian Westbrook-
i still know think that AJ Feeley is better than Kolb

Feeley always plays sick against the Pats, I think that’s why Miami wanted him.
