NFC E players you dislike the most?

This should be an interesting debate, I saw it on BBI. It can be past or present.

My list:

1. Michael Irvin - Cocky thug

2. Deion Sanders - Cock a-hole

3. Charles Haley - thug

4. Nate Newton - Never liked him

5. Clinton Portis - Thug. Defended dog fighting

6. T.O. - Needs no explanation

7. Antonio Pierce - He sucks and talks a big game

8. Jeremy Shockey - Talker

9. Eli Manning - For his draft day stunt

10. Plaxico Burress - Thug

11. Pacman Jones  - Needs no explanation.

Tiki Barber

Thought he was better than he actually was just because he put up big numbers (60% of Vagiants offense in his final year). He had no heart and was always criticizing his teammates (mainly Eli) and ducking responsibility for the team’s shortcomings. I was so happy when he called out Eli’s leadership in his first year as a broadcaster and then the Giants won the Super Bowl and showed the world just how valuable he was as a teammate. No one respects his opinion anymore and his career as a broadcaster could soon come to an end :)

Will an apollogy do?

I am sorry for saying that – seriously.

In my defense, we were 5-8 that year (after losing to the Pats I think…) on the way to going 8-8. We were not in the playoffs so I swiched from Eagle fan to “who do I want to lose the most.” I wanted the Pats to lose because of the SB in 04, the regular season loss that eliminated our chances of making the playoffs, and their general cockyness from going 18-0. So the Vagiants winning was a double bonus to me.

Save for famous horse collar tackle on Owens – Williams has actually been a good presence for us.

Most disliked players in recent history were easily Shockey and Tiki.

It’s kind of slim pickings out there now as guys I just cant stand. Possible candids I suspect could fall into that category this season are Osi Umenyiora, Albert Haynesworth and Martellus Bennett.

I have trouble recalling times when Romo and Eli stepped up enough against the Eagles for me to have hate for them. I think Campbell’s getting a raw deal down there in DC and have enough respect for Witten & Portis’s game for me to hate them.

my guess

is because of the six sack winston justice turnstyle game and because of the way he called us out this offseason saying…

“It was a team we should have beat and it’s a team that if the opportunity arises again I think we will beat”

i’m not a huge fan of his either.

by WillyC on Jun 11, 2009 3:38 PM EDT up reply actions

is because of the six sack winston justice turnstyle game

In all fairness to Winny the whole team did bad, Westbrook and LJ were out and there was no chipping or help given. I’m not convinced all 6 of Osi’s sacks should be credited to Winston Justice a few times he was lined up in the B Gap (maybe 4 sacks to Justice.)

Less we forget that the rest of the line gave up 6 8 sacks as well so it was just a horrendous team effort.

In the beginning of Deions career I was 5/6 but as I started to understand football and really get into it I actually liked him he was flashy and at 7-9 that’s all that matters anyway. Anyway I remember being angry when he went to the Cowboys because I couldn’t rock my headband around my neck and high step because even at that age I couldn’t support a Cowboy. Even after that I still like Deion he was a very good player.

In recent history...

TO – Duh.
Eli Manning – Perhaps one of the worst quarterbacks to ever win a Ring, plus he always looks like he wants to be hiding under a rock.
Tony Romo – I just don’t think he cares. I think he’s got his money, and he likes to win, but if he doesn’t, hey whatever. At least he gets to go and bang Jessica Simpson.
Marrion Barber – I actually like the way he plays, but I hate the way telecasters just get on their knees for him.

Worst QB to win a ring huh...

and he won the MVP of the Bowl too….bitter much?

by FreeBradshaw on Jun 11, 2009 7:43 PM EDT up reply actions

c'mon

You know the defense deserved mvp honors.

"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."

While he’s not the worst QB to ever win one, don’t pretend him being named MVP means anything.

he didn’t say he was the absolute worst…haha

by eagleyosh on Jun 11, 2009 8:50 PM EDT up reply actions

that honor belongs to Trent Dilfer.

Well.

I know this also sounds crazy, but Eli was much better than Tom Brady in his first SB.

Obviously Brady is a HOFnow, but when he went he was probably the worst. The second 2 he was pretty good tho…

by FreeBradshaw on Jun 11, 2009 10:15 PM EDT up reply actions

I wouldnt say he was MUCH better then Brady…..better def., but not MUCH better.

Brady 16/27 145yd 1td 0int…..1att 3yds rush.
Eli 19/35 255yd 2td 1int…..3att 4yds
Peyton 25/38 247yd 1td 1int….1att 0yds

I dont think any of them deserved the MVP trophy. You don’t give a MVP trophy to anyone on the def., i would have picked Tuck, so Eli got it. Brady got it, but atleast he didnt turn the ball over, even though he had weak yards. There wasn’t any really good perfromances i would say though in that super bowl, so they just gave it to Brady for leading the offense to the late fg. I know Eli led the Giants to the late TD. Lastly Rhodes should have gotten the MVP in that super bowl with 113yds and a TD.

"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."

Troy Aikmen

Not necessarily from his playing days. I HATE him as a commentator. He has to be the biggest homer alive even while he is calling a game.

by Iggles Fan 4 Life on Jun 11, 2009 2:53 PM EDT reply actions

I disagree I think Aikmen is probably one of the more tolerable commentators. Moose is much more of a Cowboys homer.

Has the worst wardrobe I have ever seen too. Aikmen is fairly subjective for who he is.

Agreed

I always wince when they show Moose with Dick Stockton ready to announce an Eagles game on Sunday. I would add Emmit Smith too – just because he really wasn’t an elite player, just happened to be in a great situation.

Maybe i just see too much of him...

I live in an area where every single Dallas Cowgirls game is shown on Fox and the majority of them are commentated by Aikmen. He is good as a commentator but his obvious love of the Girls comes through in every game he does, which is where my hatred for him comes in. Moose is too dumb to even give consideration to.

But my all time top three:

1. Irvin
2. tie between Burress and Shockey
3. Roy Williams

I would have to throw Lawrence Taylor in there. Mostly because he was so good and gave the Birds grief for so many years, but also because he turned out to be a total douche.

By the way, not sure if it’s accurate to say Emmit Smith wasn’t an elite player. The dude has the NFL record for most rushing TDs and is tied with Walter Payton for most 100 yd games. I will agree that I don’t like him, but that’s mostly because he used to torch the Eagles and is (thankfully was) a shitty broadcaster.

TO is in the best phyiscal shape of any 35 year old ..if jerry can play till hes 42 TO can play til hes 44 or45 .. and that 15 plus tds he scores this year will knock that total down a lot

by jack is better than asante on Jun 13, 2009 2:58 AM EDT up reply actions

TO is definitely as good as they come talent wise. I don’t think he scores 15 plus in Buffalo. He is slowing down. I’m not saying that he’s instantly terrible, but he is slowing down. And he only put up 15 plus twice.

Also, watch out for Randy Moss.

yea yea

T.O. is great and arguebly is the best reciever of this generation. But Moss is only four TDs behind him and i believe he will eventually pass T.O. bc Moss has brady and T.O. has the almighty great Trent Edwards

by birdsflyinhigh2590 on Jun 13, 2009 7:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Moss is also 3 years younger and has a better reputation. Reputation could be important down the line. You can’t be old, declining, and a bad locker room guy and expect to be on a roster, like Whodie pointed out.

by FredEx on Jun 14, 2009 1:20 AM EDT up reply actions

truer words have never been spoken FredEx. I didn’t even think about the Moss factor. At 32 with 132 receiving TDs and a 12.2 TDs a season average it will only take 5 years at his current average to pass 197 and a receiver lasting until 37 is much more realistic than 41.
