Bird Droppings - Philadelphia Eagles Links 6/11/09

Abiamiri anxious for impact - NJ.com
Victor Abiamiri smiled when the reporter blurted out his bold prediction that the big defensive end would not only win the Eagles' starting job, but make the Pro Bowl, while his alma mater Notre Dame would return to prominence.

Frank: Eagles producing questions, not answers | Delawareonline.com | The News Journal
The Eagles will conduct their final workout of these "organized team activities" today before reconvening in late July for training camp, no closer to answering the questions that have dogged them during this tumultuous offseason.

Eagles tight end Brent Celek looks to improve upon last season's late success - lehighvalleylive.com
"I was in some good situations and made some decent plays (in the NFC title game), so ... I've just got to do that on a continuous basis this year," Celek said.

Source: McNabb, Birds Approaching Agreement
A source has told CSN’s Derrick Gunn that McNabb and the organization are close to restructuring the final two years of the quarterback's current contract. A deal could be completed in the near future.

Schwartz: Birds Adjusting Well to McDermott
If anyone has confidence that Sean McDermott can take over for defensive coordinator Jim Johnson if need be, it’s safety Quintin Mikell.

Eagles' Reggie Brown driven to rebound | Philadelphia Inquirer | 06/11/2009
Saying it is nice, but judging from his effort this spring, Brown apparently has dropped any lingering discontent. During minicamp, the former second-round draft pick has caught most everything thrown his way. Whether he can remain with his only organization - uncharacteristically overflowing with wideouts - is unclear

Jean-Gilles seeks deal, hires Rosenhaus | Philadelphia Inquirer | 06/11/2009
Jean-Gilles is in the last year of a four-year contract. "As one of the top young offensive linemen in the NFL, this should be a very smooth negotiation process with the Eagles, especially now that he is healthy," Rosenhaus wrote on Twitter.

Tony Romo's Facebook Page Hacked!! (Image) - Hogs Haven
Spoof of what Tony's Romo's facebook page looks like. Similar parody to that of the Vinny Cerrato gmail hacked post.

I like the Abiamiri story, the only problem is that I think Notre Dame will not rebound to prior glory this year, not with Charlie Weis

I hope Celek gets better, because we would be unstoppable in two TE sets if Ingram lives up to the hype

Apparently R.Brown is looking good, will prob still make the team, but it has him as the #6 WR

Does that mean that Max Jean-Gilles is The King?

Is anyone taking that NewsJournal article seriously?

I feel like he wanted something controversial to write because I just don’t see it. It seems McNabb’s negotiations are going fine, Brown might not be happy but he has the right mindset now it seems and Asante missing voluntary practice hasn’t set off any warning bells as far as I can tell. Westbrook is a valid concern, but other than that it seems Frank is just grasping at straws here.

I used to read the News Journal all the time

Back when I lived in DE. It was nothing but doom and gloom about the Eagles every day. Not really worth anyone’s time to read.

it takes

so much to win a super bowl. that being said, after all the crap that the team has been through every single year of this decade, like ALL the injuries we had during the offseason and regular season, i say that the team and coaching staff have been toughened up to the point where it won’t be as bad as it should be. it’s an experienced team in many ways even without the vets we lost this season. it has good coaches and a good medical staff. i refuse to get down, i’m still hella excited.
