Ingram and Gibson - Top Values
Granted, this probably doesn't mean a whole lot. But, draftcountdown.com rated Cornelius Ingram and Brandon Gibson as two of the best values in the NFL draft for where they were taken. I think Ingram could be a pretty good player for the Eagles, but I was kind of writing off Gibson as a guy who probably won't survive the final cutdown. Do you think Gibson has a better than average chance to make the roster?
A. Q. Shipley from Penn State was a guy I would have liked the Eagles to have taken a shot at with a late pick. I would have rather seen them take Shipley instead of Fenuki Tupou.
I also thought it was kind of funny that the article also crapped on 4 of the Raiders' draft picks.

You know, I haven’t thought much about the Gibson pick until right now. I guess I thought he was just an insurance pick to create competition.
Pros: Good Height and Bulk….Smooth Athlete…Excellent Hands….Terrific Ball Skills and Body Control….Very Agressive….Good Leaper….Real Tough….Isn’t Afraid to Work the Middle…Technically Sound…Above Average Route Runner….Decent Blocker…Hard Worker….Team Player
Cons: Doesn’t Have Great Speed or Quickness…Isn’t Very Explosive and Lacks a Burst…Not Real Elusive and Won’t Do Much After the Catch…Needs to Get Stronger….Could Be More Physical…Is Not Much of a Vertical or Deep Threat…Doesn’t Get Much Separation….Upside is Limited
Does all the little things and has top notch intangibles. Profiles as a possession receiver on the next level.
All of these qualities sound remarkably similar to the attributes of Jason Avant, so it’s kind of a puzzling pickup. I’m rooting for him because like Avant, he has incredible work ethic and motivation, but he has to make it through training camp first. I think Banner and Reid know they just locked up the vertical threat with DeSean and Maclin, so they are trying to really go after a strong underneath passing game to really give Mcnabb all sorts of options.

Maybe makes it over Baskett
if he outperforms Baskett on special teams
If Gibson can play special teams then I think he will make it. That is one of the main reasons why I think Reggie Brown is done here because there is no place for him on the game day roster since he doesn’t play on ST and we drafted Maclin and Avant is our slot WR.
For What It's Worth...
Gibson was an excellent special teams player in high school, and also was an effective kick/punt returner during his freshman year in college before he was given a receiver spot. Maybe there’s something there to work off of?

Reggie?
Did the Eagles sign another WR that I don’t know about that’s also named Reggie?!? And he’s better than Desean Jackson?!? Holy shit, That’s awesome!!! Tell us more, Jack! Jackson, Curtis, Maclin, Avant, and now this new “Reggie” guy? That’s F-ing SWEET!!! What’s his deal? Is he a big target guy… Like 6’6 and catches everything? Tell us more…
Oh shit… Just remembered we already have a Reggie. You didn’t actually mean Reggie Brown, did you? The same Reggie Brown that had 250 some odd yards receiving last season? The same Reggie Brown that in 4 seasons hasn’t put up numbers in one single season that equal the season Jackson put up as rookie? The same Reggie Brown that didn’t even MAKE the playoff roster?
Please tell me you were referring to a different Reggie.
WHAT???
seems to me that Reggie came back at the end of the season and desean was still the starter. Luckily Jack was hurt otherwise we would’ve had to bench Asante.
Brian Dawkins for President
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think I am – Reggie was healthy for quite a few games and was still benched in favor of DeSean last year. I believe Reggie will have to have a good camp to overtake DeSean… I see it the other way around.

Even though they weren’t in pads and you shouldn’t really judge from that, everytime I hear Ingram’s name come up people keep on saying that he looked great. Do you guys think if he picks up the offense that he could become the starter by the second half of the season? It’s really nothing against Celek but I’ve never really seen him more then a good backup TE.
Gibson
He’s a guy that was pretty highly rated a year or so ago, but he played on such an awful team with a terrible QB that his stock went way down. I got an email from a washington fan who told me he thought the Eagles really got a steal and that GIbson was a real sleeper since he played on such a terrible team.
Yeah I just read his bio on NFL.com. It says his value was high after the 2007 season, and he wanted to go into the NFL, but his coaches convinced him to stay. Sucks for him…
He seriously considered leaving school after the 2007 season, but was convinced by the new coaching staff that he would greatly benefit returning to the university in 2008. Even though he led the team with 57 catches, the Cougars suffered through one of the worst seasons in the program, finishing 2-11 for the campaign.

Yeah I live in Oregon and saw the Cougars play quite a bit and he was there only bright spot if there was such a thing for that team, the sad thing is they weren’t even the worst team in the Pac-10 Washington was. If it wasn’t for that state “experts” probably wouldn’t think we are a weak conference. Anyways back on topic if they had a few more wins or didn’t get blown out every game he would of probably went much higher then the 6th round.
