Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Rich Hoffman wrote an interesting article today about Kevin Kolb at Eagles rookie camp. I think he makes an especially interest point about how honest and revealing Kolb is now and wonders whether he'd stay that way if he became the starter.

the more interviews i see of this kid the more i’m disliking him. i’m not saying he needs to bow to 5 or anything but he seems to speak with this air that hes above him. he needs to work on not giving the ball up every time he gets into a game before he starts planning on “leading this team to a super bowl”

do you want a coward of a QB, he is honest and hasn't been afforded a fair shot of earning a spot.

Lets face it, even if Kolb is lights out in the preseason, he can’t win that starter spot becuase it belongs to five. I think that gives him the right to complaine and be frustrated and antsy. In his mind, he is just as good as anyother QB in the league. And as far as we know, he may just be. But he is not gonna be given a fair chance to start. Five will start regardless.

McNabb will have to struggle for a few games or get injured. Than Kolb gets his shot. Those things are out of his control. Again I’ll say this, he has all the right to be upset.

I like him, he’s impressed me from day one. I am a huge Kolb fan, not because I don’t like McNabb, because I actually do like McNabb. I just think Kolb has the tools I like in a QB (quick release, decent feel of the pocket, very accurate, quick decision maker, and is fearless in making the thight 10-20 passes with little space). He is basically Jeff Garcia with a better arm and younger. And I like Garcia as well.

Bleed green, or don't bleed at all!

I’m glad he’s confident, but I thought he came across as kind of whiny in this article too.

I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.

I wonder when Big Red is going to decide if he is going to give McNabb a contract extension or not because all of our QB’s contracts end in 2010 although I would expect we would re-sign AJ Feeley as well to be one of the backups. If we give McNabb a contract extension I think we should trade Kolb instead of letting him walk so we can get something for him.

Kolb is the future qb for the eagles. That is that. I like him and i dont think people got a right impression of him when he was put in the second half of one of the most dominant defenses in the league. Look at his preseason starts last year, he did pretty well and i believe when he is given another shot, he will be a lot better.

i’m def not basing my opinion of him on the ravens game alone. all 4 games he came into this year i thought he looked like nothing more than a backup. preseason doesnt mean much to me really since he usually came in against 2nd or 3rd string defenses.

Hey, I love 5…I cheered when McNabb was drafted, being a Syracuse grad myself…but Kolb is the future QB…I think to me it depends what 5 wants for his extension…If he wants starter money for the final year, I’m guessing they’re not going to go there…

And I get Kolb wanting to start…everyone says that…if you compete, you want to start…I have a huge pet peeve when media claims that it shows no class to say “I want to play”…I think if he was like, “hey man, they pay me good cash to sit on my @$$, and I’m ok with that for as long as they want to pay me”, I’d be more angry…

Dude wants to play, he’s shown in preseason that he can play, he just is not a “proven” NFL starting QB, which is one of the toughest positions in sports…and he can’t prove it until he practices with the first team and starts a couple of games in a row…
