Fourth Best Sports City in North America
The Toronto Star recently ranked the "Best Sport Cities" in North America (excluding Mexico) and our beloved city of Philadelphia came in fourth. Check out the (very small) map:
Indianapolis came in first, Boston in second (bleh) and Vancouver in third. This list considered 37 cities - the requirement was that a city have at least two major sports teams (the Canadian Football League counted). The best cities were determined by:
a.) Winning percentage by teams since 2000.
b.) Bonus points (I'm not sure what the exact methodology was) for teams that made the playoffs and/or won championships.
Check out the article: http://www.thestar.com/sports/article/635370
These are some interesting results. Your thoughts...

Bonus points (I’m not sure what the exact methodology was)
Judging by Vancover’s (seriously… Vancover?) standing in this ranking… I should think the bonus points were asigned by the prosperity of the local moose population, or some such measure…

I’m not anit-Canadian… in fact, I’m Pro-Matt-Stairs… I just think there are other cities that are far better “sports cities”

Really biased
Although Im happy with them at least crediting Philly as 4th, they have 3 Canadian cities in the top 10 which is ridiculously biased. Just having a team in the NHL doesn’t make you a big sports city. New York is easily top 6 not 12. Vancouver 3rd? Really?
Taking Route 36 will bring you to Touchdown,PHI
i bet we'd be first if they only counted this past year
phillies winning the world series, eagles going to NFC championships, 76er’s making the playoffs, flyers making the playoffs…. lots of “bonus points” to be going around. very subjective ranking though.
