Eagles Made Offer for Boldin on Draft Day; No Longer Interested in Acquiring WR

Offer Was Made for Boldin

It was recently reported that the Eagles offered the Arizona Cardinals a 3rd-round draft pick, as well as CB Sheldon Brown, for WR Anquan Boldin. This proposed deal accordingly took place early in the Draft.

Kent Somers, an Arizona journalist and online writer, stated this after having the news confirmed by Cardinals' General Manager Rod Graves. The trade offer was reportedly "quickly rejected", and the Eagles instead selected receiver Jeremy Maclin in the first-round of the Draft.

It was suggested by Somers that head coach Andy Reid wanted to stir up the media by speaking in a series of press conferences last week that included talk of how Boldin would require an expensive contract, and that the Cardinals did not want to trade him anyway. But it has been confirmed that Reid's team did offer to acquire the disgruntled Pro-Bowl WR during the Draft.

Although Sheldon Brown was included in the trade offer, he has not commented on the topic and continues to display a positive attitude while seen participating in workouts at the team's NovaCare Complex. Ever since proclaiming a serious unhappiness with the organization and his contract days before the Draft, Brown has remained a quiet player yet to cause a disturbance within the team.

The team is no longer interested in acquiring Boldin, according to several sources including members of the Eagles' front office, but...

Those of you reading this article should not be mad for any reason. Some of you may feel that the team should have offered more for Boldin, and some of you may argue that the team should still hunt for the WR. But you have to realize that this "news" being reported in this post, took place nearly 3 weeks ago, and is only releasing to the sports world now. This is done. And this has been solved (In mini-camp, Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson had strong showings, and the team's receiving corps looks like the best in Andy Reid's Eagles' coaching era), so don't moan over this attempted proposal that failed, becuase it has already been dealt with, and the team seems to have put it long behind them.
