Cowboys Romo follows familiar pattern in bid to make US open

Tony Romo is as good under pressure on the golf course as he is on the football field.

Tony Romo is as good under pressure on the golf course as he is on the football field.

In an attempt to qualify for this year's US open, Cowboys' QB Tony Romo was off to a great start. He shot even par over the first 9 holes of the course... But in the second half anyone want to guess how Romo performed?

He shot 44 on the back nine, with five bogeys and a triple-bogey on No. 16 sacking his scorecard at Dallas National Golf Club.

Yeah, that sounds like a Tony Romo-esque performance alright...

Now Romo will attempt to qualify for some other golf tournament. Glad to see his offseason priorities are straight. Can't wait to see you this December Tony!

RE: Romo bogey

A triple bogey? Does that equate to three losses in the playoffs?

i live in dallas. now just imagine… picture it… how much fun do you think i have talking with the ppl in the city about tony romo? and to see them squirm and hide behind their super bowls of decades ago like peckerheads behind their daddys’ legs when the bully comes around… most spoken sentence of my life the past 3 yrs: “What you all fail to see, is maybe Tony Romo is just not that good.”

How about anything to do with the Eagles? Seriously, picking on Tony Romo’s golf game is barely more relevant to this site than making fun of someone on American Idol.

Dude, we’re in the depths of the offseason…it’s mid-week…no mini-camps…no OTAs…no real news.

No tragedies, no scandals (thank God), no interesting pressers…

The Eagles are locking down preparing for the season and as always are keeping us, and the rest of the league, out of the loop.

Seriously, if you have something, anything, better than this we’d be glad to hear it. Until you do have something to bring to the table, I will laugh at others misfortune…because I’m that kind of guy.

yea yomjoseki

i mean this could be posted so we could all laugh at tony homo and crack jokes with each other or nothing could be posted. Where’s your sense of humor?

Just saying it’s not frontpage worthy. Hell, the side discussion I created is more entertaining than snickering at Romo’s failed golf endeavour. Oh no, he’s just the starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys. He’s not also good enough to compete with professional golfers. What a loser he must be! Unless Tiger Woods spends his time posting here, he’s a better golfer than anyone here, and he’s not that bad of a QB (omg blasphemy!)

I just prefer my Cowboy hating to be Eagles relevant. Sorry to burst so many bubbles.

what?

this is hilarious news… it’s a testament to romo’s inability to close out a good start, it’s almost a microcosm of his on-field prowess… (wow even i can’t believe i know those words)

WWDT

What Would Dallas Think…

Their “star” QB, better known for who he dates than what he’s done on the field, is out golfing in the offseason in competitive golf tournaments like the PGA tour. If it was McNabb the city would riot at the fact that he’s more concerned about his golf game than improving with the weapons around him. Thank God McNabb goes to Arizona and takes his receivers with him to get to know them better. Romo on the other hand is just enjoying being an undrafted FA to millionaire and not working towards improving and getting better chemistry with the receivers he works with this season.

I’d be pissed about that if I’m a cochroach fan.

Considering that some guys from here like to post in our blog...

… I’ll be around here, because I have the same reason that they have, if you’re going to talk about the Cowboys, I’ll be here.

1. Winning in the Playoffs is related to the team sport part, not about the QB in an island part.
Peyton Manning won the Lombardi in, what arguably was, his worst series of playoff performances. His team D carried the team in a lot of those games. I know that you guys like to put too much of the blame on the QBs (all the hate McNabb has received over the years when he isn’t the only thing that isn’t right), but at times these borders on sillyness.

2. It’s the Offseason.
Players have a lot of time to kill right now, they just have to attend conditioning sessions and if they have a new receiver they’ll work on timing. By all indications, Romo will show up to more Valley Ranch conditioning sessions than what are required for veteran players and he’s working with Roy Williams on timing. What else is he supposed to do? He can’t be part of more demanding training sessions, that would be against League rules and our team hasn’t had practices for veterans, those are scheduled for the near future.

3. When we talk about Danny White, we don’t think of him as a winner.
And the guy led his team to 3 Conference Championships and has one of the best percentages of starts and victories. But the guy couldn’t win the Championship and therefore he’s seen as a chocker. Romo isn’t a winner. McNabb isn’t, either. They’ve been chockers so far, in that we’re on the same boat.

Not really. McNabb has won what? 10 playoff games? The only thing he hasn’t won is the superbowl. Romo has never won a postseason game. They aren’t in the same boat. They aren’t even in the same ocean.

Ok, he's in Danny White's boat

If that makes you feel any better.

:D

Probably does, something is good for your poor franchise.

Anyway he has a point. I hate to agree with him but he’s pretty spot on.

The other thing is,

speaking as a non-Iggles fan, McNabb isn’t constantly forced down our throats by the media the same way Romo is. (Put your hand down, Rush Limbaugh)

Romo-fatigue is in full effect.

True

Living in México I don’t get to see all the media bombardment, but I know that it’s there.

But that’s a problem that you should expect, he’s living the american dream, from an undrafted FA to one of the best QBs (not to win a playoff game, alright?) and most recognizable figures in the world.

If you have a problem with that, you should find another country to live in. Or a cave.

Whoooaa there horsey...
most recognizable figures in the world.

I know you guys think you’re all world renowned but i highly doubt people from any other countries would recognize tony romo. Also, i would say there is no more Mcnabb hate from eagles fans than there is for romo by cowboys fans. I would say 5-10% of people talk badly about mcnabb… they just happen to be the loud ones. I think that whole thing was blown out of proportion by our wonderful media.

Interesting Danny White comparison though. At least Mcnabb saw a superbowl…. if my memory serves me, i don’t think white did. But i painfully see the resemblence. Regardless, Mcnabb is a winner in my book.

It's also a question

of severe Cowboys overexposure. If the kid played for Jacksonville, nobody would care.

And I highly doubt that Tony Romo is one of the “most recognizable figures in the world”. Typical Cowboy fan, thinking Texa$ $tadium is the center of the universe. ;-)

And I don’t think I should need to go live in a cave to escape media-induced Romofellatio. It’s generally annoying to the 95% of football fans who aren’t Cowboys fans.

are chicks.

Do you guys believe...

…. That out of every NFL fan around there are some that don’t know about Romo? We’re talking about the most popular and impopular franchise in the League. Because our team has one of the largest fanbases and probably the largest band of haters (the Redskins and you guys have some of the other biggest fanbases. The Giants recently received a boatload of fans, too, with their title).

And I’m in México, I know about international exposure.

And you have to add, Romo’s exposure due to his stupid girlfriend (I don’t have anything against their relationship, she’s just stupid) and you have one of the most recognizable figures in football (I’m making emphasis, because we’re talking about Football, emphasis that I missed earlier).

No, and maybe that’s just my point. :-D

And I’m in México, I know about international exposure.

You seriously are going to try and say that Romo is one of the most recognizable figures in Mexico, too?

And you have to add, Romo’s exposure due to his stupid girlfriend (I don’t have anything against their relationship, she’s just stupid)

Agreed. I can’t stand Jessica Simpson. (And I couldn’t stand her even BEFORE she started dating Romo)

and you have one of the most recognizable figures in football (I’m making emphasis, because we’re talking about Football, emphasis that I missed earlier).

Okay, yeah. That I’ll give you. He’s one of the most recognizable figures in futból américano. Which, as I was saying earlier, is largely due to Cowboys overexposure.
