Intriguing...
They have the pictures and video up from the first day of practice/mini-camp and a couple of things jumped out at me. I just wanted to knock around this business with you fellas since there's really nothing else going on.
1. The new CB Macho Harris being lined up at safety rather than in the CB position. I like this idea since you can see from his tape that he is a ball hawk and is defnitely somebody we need to cover the deep middle. Whether or not he is smart enough to play the position in Jim Johnson's offense is a completely different story. But if you remember, last season we went to that wierd "nickel" package where an LB was taken out and replaced with another safety, usually Demps if I remember, to allow Dawkins to play the hybrid LB role. I loved Dawkins, especially against the run, but we've needed a SS FS that can cover the middle in the 4-3 for a while now. (Think Game 2 against Dallas, that touchdown by TO where Dawkins got smoked.)
2. I couldn't believe that Jim Johnson was on a rascal directing the defense. If you haven't seen the pictures of him on that scooter you have to stop what you're doing and check them out. That is what real strength looks like. You're sick from cancer, but you still make it to the first day of practice, and even if you can't walk onto the field you're still making it work. That guy is incredible.
3. Does it appear that McNabb has lost a ton of weight since last season? It seems like he has really trimmed down from his usual oaf-like self.
4. Caveat to 3. Reid has not trimmed down in the offseason.
Any other thoughts/comments/concerns out there?

macho was simply getting reps in at safety because we have 9 cbs on the roster … its a possibility but not for sure

Hey, I’m just trying to make some chatter…this time of the year sucks for the most part. It’s the worst between the Draft and Training camp getting into high gear…

Amen. I don’t mind having depth, but I’d like to see who is going to be taking over at SS. I know that he said Demps, but wouldn’t it make more sense to put a seasoned guy in their considering the complexity of the system? Would it make sense to move Mikell to SS?? Just speculatin’

McNabb usually looks like a bodybuilder coming into camp. I’ve never seen the guy in anything but perfect shape.

And yet...
…so many people like to throw around the McFlabb moniker, talk about how he’s overweight or winded during games. Some people don’t realize there’s a difference between being fat and being a TANK.

some people also
dont realize when you throw up during physical activity its a form of exhaustion not necessarily caused from lack of stamina but from pushing your body to its utmost potential (ive dont it several times, thank you marine corps) … but then again most the fags who talk about him throwing up probly eat fuckin donuts all day so theres the irony for ya…

Don't hate on reid's weight....
…..he’s an ex-offensive lineman. They are paid to be fat. At his age and body situation it is extremely hard to lose weight, especially when he’s working and watching film all the time.
On the other hand, he should hop into drills and do some reps with his players, this good help his situation a bit.

For what it’s worth he ran a 4.46 at his pro day. He also had a 3.98 shuttle and a 6.68 3 cone at the combine which were among the best times.

Anything below
a 4 in the shuttle is quick and below a 4.5 is not even close to being slow.

Yeah I’m going to put him in the “Not too slow” category.

in the spirit of competition...
OK guys don’t hammer me too badly for this, but….
Anyone think ex-Cowboy safety Roy Williams would be any help at all? I mean the guy was among the hardest and most feared hitters in the game and if used the right way, I think he could be a solid contributer. On the plus side, he wouldn’t cost a ton and we do have a little uncertainty at safety right now. With Q. Mikell nearing Pro Bowl level and using Williams close to the line of scrimmage, I think we’d have a solid 1-2 punch at safety.
If anyone thinks I’m insane, I’d ask that you keep it clean, lol.

I have a friend
Who’s a sports writer for a local off-beat paper in Dallas…he’s a huge fan, and the last two years I can quote him as saying he would “trade Roy Williams for a Snickers bar”…
I think Sean Jones can punish a running back pretty well…and with Demps and Baker in the fold, we’ll be good at Safety.

we are young and talented at the safety position I see no need to get old and slow there he would flat out make our team worse.
