The Bengals are smoking CRACK
Bengals Apparently Delirious
This entry was posted on Apr 09 2009Per John Clayton, the Bengals are asking for a first and a third round pick for Chad Johnson. If it is true that Johnson is on the trading block and it’s also true that this is the Bengals’ asking price then expect to see him back in Cincinnati.
We’re not even sure you could talk Dan Snyder into something that dumb. Not only would the new team be giving up two valuable picks, they would also be signing the 31 year-old to a new contract. And keep in mind there are question marks about his future effectiveness after a terrible ‘08.
It remains to be seen whether this is just posturing by the Bengals in negotiations. But if it isn’t, Johnson will be spending another season on a losing team in Cincinnati.
If this is true then F that! They've gotta be CRAZY asking a 1st and ANYTHING to take their garbage out. I mean, I would like to see what he can do here as much as the next guy, but shit. This is an aging player with declining stats. A fresh start in a new system might breathe some new life into him, then again it might not. 1st and 3rd...WOW!

Agreed 100%
2008 – 53 catches, 540 yards, 4 TD’s.
Granted, he had a string of like 7-8 years prior to last year in which he had well over 1,000 yards every year, but the numbers above are a HUGE red flag. A 1 and a 3 is ludicrous.
You know who’s to blame for that asking price by the way? The Cowboys. By making that incredibly stupid deal last year (a 1, a 3, and a 6 for Roy Williams), they set the market way too high and teams like the Bengals, Cardinals, and Browns are going to point to that trade in any negotiation.

True that
but then again I’ll jump onboard anything that blames the Cowgirls for, well anything. Hopefully thats just them highballing to see what they can get for him and not their real expectation for what they think he’s worth.

If they're saying 1st and 5th for Braylon...
Why would anyone give up 1st and 3rd for Johnson…Braylon is younger and arguably just as good or better than Johnson…

If you read the article it is all speculation. I think more and more the media is making up trades and interests about teams to fuel the blogging world. If the Eagles have any interest in any WR, it is for a 3rd round pick or lower.
I would love to take Chad….for a 4th rounder. The guy is 31 and wants a new contract. Honestly, the Bengals were idiots if they got offered 2 firsts by the Skins and didn’t jump on them.

We traded a fifth round pick and Brandon Whiting (4th rounder) for Owens when he was 31. The Ravens were giving up a second rounder for him and I think we got a discount because Owens was going to win the grievance and the Niners would have received nothing. I could see a 3rd and 5th for Chad, I’d even give a second (only).
I also think Chads numbers last year had a lot to do with the QB, his torn labrum in his shoulder, his ankle surgery and the fact that the Bengals line gave up 50-something sacks. I really see no reason to believe he wouldn’t put up over 1000 yards and 8 TDs in this offense.

agreed a second only is my highest bid, only if I get the players I like in the first.
If not, I hold on to that 2nd and tell Chad to piss off. They may be forced to cut him anyway. What did we get for TO. Nada, They are in that same boat.
There is a reason why some teams like Arizona and Cincy always lose. They constantly make bad choices.
Arizona should trade Boldin, but they wont. They were OK last year and got hot in the playoffs, but may not be back next year.
And Cincy was stupid for turning down a trade to Washington for 2 first rounders. Now they want to make up for it by asking for a first and a third. That is just stupid, They will get nothing, either cut him, or bring him back with all that drama and keep losing.
Bad teams make stupid choices.

Add sandy vajay-jay to that list and you’ve got a winner.

Whodie said it perfectly
All these people especially Bye,Dawk thinks Chad Johnson is done just be cause he had a whopping 1 bad year in his career where he was injured and had a pathetic O-line and QB. Did you guys forget Randy Moss had 3 straight sub par seasons and had a way worse character than 85. Thats why he went only for a 4th. Look what happened when he went on a winning team with a good QB.The only reason TJ got his catches because the other teams best corner and most attention is on Chad so TJ just got plenty of the short 9-10 yard catches. 3rd and 5th or 2nd rounder is just about right. Or to get creative. I would give them a 1st and third. For Chad and their 38th pick.

Ah, the "Randy Moss argument" rears its ugly head again...
Something happens once, it gets referenced until the end of time.
On the Atlantic City Expressway, you don’t see billboards of guys cashing in the lousy $2.50 chip they’re stuck with after losing $500, or a guy going to the ATM machine for the 4th time. You see the guy that’s won so much money, he needs an umbrella to protect him from the hailstorm of gold coins raining on him. But you know what? The $2.50 chip guy scenario happens WAY more.
Plus… Don’t put words in my mouth, Cuz.
- Did I not mention that he had like 7-8 seasons in which he put up well ove 1,000 yards?
- And where did I say he was “done?”
All I said was that the year he had last year (and yeah, I’ll note those #‘s again… 52 catches, 540 yards, 4 TD’s) is a HUGE red flag. If I’m a GM, I’m not trading a 1 and a 3 for a legitimate question mark.

You did say he was done "cuz"
In my post a week or 10 days back. My post was “Chad Ocho Cinco, Most realistic WR trade” That post had like 150 comments and nobody agreed with me except sad to say it but Jack is better than Asante. Most of it was guys arguing with Jack about Quarterbacks and T.O. Now look Chad’s name has come up with trade talks with the Eagles. I guess i can say that if Chad does get traded to the Eagles, I called it since almost everyone disagreed.

These are ur exact words
He’s done…
6 straight years of 1,200 yards or not…
Last year…
53 catches, 540 yards, 4 TD. But the most alarming stat… His longest catch of the entire season was 26 yards. Twenty-six.
I don’t care if his QB was Bobby Hoying. I wouldn’t touch this "LOOK AT ME" clown with a 10 foot pole.

no way
he will deffently draw a second round pick .. a third and a 5th would be fair .. the 2nd is prob more realistic. . i would deff do it .. hes a stud .. he didnt wanna play last year .. he could of had 1000 yards if he tried .. hes better than tj .. he wanted out .. and the best way to get out was to not play well and lower his value

Fair enough...
But thanks for adding to my point that his long reception of the ENTIRE SEASON last year was 26 yards.

Again...
a 1 and a 3 is WAY too much for a guy that just had a year where he caught 53 balls for 540, 4 TD’s, his longest reception of the season was 26 yards, has held out multiple times in his career, constantly bitches, and is developing a laundry list of injuries. We’re not the Redskins.

The more I think about this
Or to get creative. I would give them a 1st and third. For Chad and their 38th pick.
The more I don’t mind it.
Not that it would ever go down, but the whole 28 for 38 part makes it much more palatable.

I think the Eagles like 2nd round picks more than firsts because there is less risk. The difference between a 28th picks potential and a 38th picks potential really isn’t alot, but the value on draft day is a third rounder.

exactly…“he didnt wanna play last year”
lol sorry for picking on ya Bye Dawk. Chad is gonna kick ass in midnight green.

We all are saying a 2nd round pick or 3rd and 5th. I said to be creative we can go 1st and 3rd for Chad and their 38th.

That is a crazy asking price for a question mark player. We’ll never pull the trigger on something that STUPID. But then again Joe Banner is pretty stupid. LMAO.
