Representing the Pittsburgh Steelers in the BGN mock draft Ayydamn selects...
Max Unger, OG Oregon
The largest glaring need for the Steelers in this draft is to begin and add youth to their offensive line. Although Big Ben isn't always the smartest when it comes to being pressured, most of the sacks can be pinned on the old offensive lines inability to block effectively. Max Unger provides a huge presence in the center position.
After winning the Super Bowl last year, the Steelers didn't lose many key players in the offseason. The loss of Nate Washington at WR is a position that can be filled in the latter rounds of the draft. The defense is still one of the tops in the league, but securing the offensive line will be the key to them returning to the promise land in 2009. The competitive, play-to-the-whistle approach that Unger has will fill the need of an offensive lineman that the Steelers desire.
Commish take after the jump. We're done!
Commish take - Ayydamn had it pretty spot on. The Steelers don't have many holes and they didn't lost very much this offseason. However, they do have some age on their offensive line and Unger is a guy that can potentially play anywhere along that line. He should fit in perfectly in Pittsburgh
Mocking the Draft scouting report on Max Unger
And with that, we're done! Here it is, the final BGN community mock draft. Unfortunately it's a bit out of date with the Cutler trade, but this was quite an undertaking and I want to thank everyone who was a part of it.

I don’t think so. I don’t really see how we could finish it in time.

I love Unger, I hope he falls to us in the second round if we have taken care of RB and TE/WR with our first two picks.

I do as well, I think we will have to move up into the early second to get him though. Hopefully thats what some of those 5th round picks are for ;).

Whew
Thus completes the longest draft in human history ;-)
Ayydamn – question…most of the mock drafts I’ve seen have Alex Mack as the better center prospect; some call him the best in years. You think Unger’s the better prospect?

Unger
is more versatile than Mack. He can play 4 or 5 positions on the OL

I didn’t exactly draft him as a full time center. The Steelers could use the versatility incase another position goes down, and you never know which of the players will retire first. I think some teams who need a Center specifically should draft Mack, but to fill the Steelers need, they should take Unger.
