Not long ago, we were entertaining the idea of trading for ex-Browns TE Kellen Winslow Jr. The Tampa Bay Bucs beat us to the punch and have since extended WInslow with a 6 year contract that contains $20M in guarantees. The deal is worth a little over $36M and can be maxed over $42M. Winslow is now the highest paid TE in NFL history. I only mention this because it'll set the bar for future TE contracts.

among other issues that he has… totally agreed

"I tried to run him over but Eli had his big boy pads on and he kind of stopped me from getting in the end zone. The next time I’ll try to jump over his head.’’ - Asante Samuel

Too much money way too soon

I know they have a lot of cap space that’s likely burning a hole in their pocket, but that deal is a good way for new management to get off on the wrong foot.

With regards to setting the bar for future TE’s – we can only hope Celek plays himself into a contract like this.

He may be the Highest paid but

Does he even make your top 5 current NFL TE’s?

The road to victory!

Off the top of my head I’d take Clark, Witten, Gonzalez and Miller over him. Then possibly Gates and/or Cooley as well.
