An Eagles Memory to Share...
[Note by JasonB, 04/05/09 12:11 PM EDT ] Promoted from fanposts. Thought this was a great story to share for a slow Eagles weekend.
This past year I was in Jamaica for a week to surprise my girlfriend with an Engagement Ring. While we were there, the Eagles played the 49ers and I was nervous that I was going to be left in the dark watching a score ticker in the bottom corner of some European Soccer game.
Wow was I wrong! There was a 3,000 square foot sports bar that had several nice TV's and a 100" Projection Screen TV that I got them to play the Eagles Game On!! We had already watched several Philles Playoff Games on the TV, but watching my beloved Eagles on the mega screen, in Jamaica, with bottom-less drink and food....was amazing! There turned out to be about 10 other Eagles fans there watching and we all had a blast watching the Birds come flying back in the 4th qtr to win the game! Everyone at the resort (waitstaff and bartenders especially) made a very big deal about the game since all week long my fiance and I were rocking our 16 ounce Eagles mugs to drink our bottom-less beverages. All of the Jamaicans were cheering for the Eagles and pouring us some crazy shots when we scored to celebrate! Certainly a memory that I wont forget.

Some pictures from the day/night. It got a little ugly!! But we had such a great time!
Thanks for Reading!
Eagles. Beer and Jamaica....YA MON!!

Nice...
I was in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands when the Eagles smoked the Vikings during their 2004 run to the SB. Went to a place called Molly Malone’s, which was owned by people from Philly. They apparently had Amoroso rolls frozen and shipped in weekly. They had a 10-foot replica Wawa hoagie hanging from the ceiling.
Anyway, they were huge Eagles fans as well. At one point a family came in, sat down, and noted that they were Vikings fans. The owner immediately came over, and politely told them that tables close to the big screen TV were reserved for Eagles fans only, and they were banished to the back corner of the bar.
This just gave me an idea ...
… I used to work at a small little newspaper, and they’d publish your picture if you took the paper with you anywhere in the world. So the tiny little paper went to the Taj Mahal and the top of Mount Everest and the Great Wall and all that jazz.
The Jamaica story (very cool that the locals got on board BTW) could be the beginning of something similar. (or it could just be your thread and that’s the end of it) … It would definitely be cool to hear stories and see pictures of the places in the world people have been with their Eagles stuff or the great lengths they’d go to catch games.
I definitely think the fact there were 10 other Birds fans watching the game with you in a bar in Jamaica proves we’re a special breed. Nice.

For the Xmas game against Dallas a couple years ago I was in the D.R. We got there and they didn’t have Fox, but they managed to get it for us by request for one night. The bar had about 15 die-hard Eagles fans and one lame Cowgirls fan. The place was loud and the fight song was sang the entire night. The staff didn’t know anything about football and were incredibly amused by the passion we showed to the “American game”

LOL…I was on my honeymoon in Jamaica (Sandals Dunn’s River) in 2001 when the Eagles beat the Giants to clinch the NFC East, and I did have to watch it via sportsticker – our resort didn’t get FOX at the time.
I went to dinner during the game, because it was driving me crazy to “watch” like that, and when I learned the Eagles won I screamed E-A-G-L-E-S off the balcony.
We went back for our 5-year anniversary in 2006, arriving at Sandals two days after the Eagles had beaten the Cowboys on Christmas. We were walking around the resort to see how things had changed from our previous time there, when I was accosted by a whole party of Eagles fans who told me how they had basically taken over the resort and made the Jamaicans adjust the satellite dish so they could watch the game.
(This time the resort got Fox, so I was able to watch part of the meaningless Atlanta game after drinking on the beach all morning)
I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.
last may
I went to Alaska for a week last May. I was wearing an Eagles cap in the small town of Seward and I got a nice Go Eagles. It was fantastic!
