FO: Eagles highest aggregate draft score card

Every year, the folks over at Football Outsiders does a compilation of prominent draft scorers.  This year, the Eagles have the highest GPA grade average at 3.57.

http://footballoutsiders.com/ramblings/2009/2009-nfl-draft-report-card-report

Philadelphia Eagles
GPA:
3.57
Highest Grade: A+, Pete Prisco
Lowest Grade: B-, Mel Kiper, Charles Robinson
Comments: Tucker has high praise for new Eagles Jeremy Maclin ("arguably the best receiver in the draft") and LeSean McCoy ("the most elusive and pure runner [in the draft]"). Czarnecki writes that Maclin was the top receiver on the draft boards of 18 teams. The Eagles also get points for trading picks to acquire tackle Jason Peters and defensive back Ellis Hobbs, causing Weisman to simply write "Wow." The Eagles scored top to bottom; under "Questionable Move," Prisco writes "Hard to find any. I mean it."

Cool stuff.  As a by the way, the Cowboys had the second lowest score at 1.66, along with this great line from Ross Tucker "Cowboys traded down and drafted a bunch of players who won't even make their roster. What is the point of that? Out of their 12 picks, maybe two of them will contribute in 2009. Not good."

We actually got 4 first round picks !

well almost….LeSean McCoy could of went late first and really not of been to big of a reach….The TE ingram….w/o an injury could of been a first rounder/second rounder (being compared to sterling, antonio gates) and he’s my Tom brady pick of 2009..and then Macho Harris…WTF happened there ? he SHOULD of been a first two round pick..WTF ? 15 int’s in 3 years 22 pass break ups…hits like an animal ? no way he should of slipped out of the second round….he will become a starter by the end of year two and a fan favorite…I watched this fool every week and he has the moxy/swagger and talent that will drive us wild…please dont sign him to a 45 year/$40 million contract eagles …he is gonna be a star barring injury…we cant take a holdout in 2013…Here’s a link

Eagles made up for kevin kolb…trading out of the first round…for a decade…not getting gonzalez….boldin…ocho…..

Nice Link

I’m always for versatility with players. Macho Harris is as versatile as it gets. Our Secondary is stacked! Sean Jones is only signed to a one year deal. He’s an awesome player in my opinion, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Harris and Demps were competing for the FS role in 2010.

I would be surprised if that was the case… I think once Demps win the starting role at FS at Lehigh he won’t be letting it go dudes a complete ballhawk once he learns the system completly he will be very very productive. There is a HUGE gap of speed between Demps and Macho

Yea demps is a speedster

Yea there is a huge gap between Demps and Maho speed wise…demps ran a 4.39 to macho’s 4.68 which is light years….but Im sure Demps was way faster then Dawk in Dawks prime but Dawk is a better safety. Macho almost never got burned…reads the run well and will KnockUTFO…ala Sean Taylor(r.i.p.) yes he’s not as fast as either of them but you will think twice about coming across the middle…with both of them in the back field i really dont care who starts….as long as they both contribute and stay healthy…plus macho used to play 3 or 4 snaps at WR a game and kick return…he’s not track fast but he’s football fast and his last 3 or 4 steps before impact is insane…dude is a monster…people forget Devin Hester ran a low 4.5 almost 4.6 so track speed doesnt always translate.

thanks

I live in the MD/DC area and we get force fed VT games for some reason eventhough they are like 4hrs away…and he was the only reason I watched them the last 2 years..He was considering going out a year earlier and came back bcuz he was projected a third rd pick so he went back and had a career high 6 ints last year…so i have no clue why he fell…are teams really that stuck on 40 times ? he had the fastest shuttle time of the enitre combine which is a change of direction /hip and lower body movement which should be the most important for a db/safety…have no clue what caused the free fall ?

by Mikegeminsky on Apr 30, 2009 12:55 PM EDT reply actions

don’t mean to nitpick….but he had the scond fastest to cb kevin barnes (redskins)….and tied w/ sherrod martin (panthers).

"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."

I WANT DEMPS TO START AND CONTINUE TO RETURN KICKOFFS. I THOUGHT HE RAN HARD BETWEEN THE NUMBERS AND WASNT AFRAID TO TAKE A HIT.
