Around SBN: Nevin Shapiro Vows To Bring Down Miami

Utah CB Sean Smith to visit Eagles

Sean-smith21_medium

From PFT

University of Utah cornerback Sean Smith is drawing heavy interest from NFL teams, according to a league source.

Smith has been scheduled for visits with the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens and the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks, St. Louis Rams, Cleveland Browns, Eagles and the Dolphins are among the teams that have set up private workouts with Smith.

Listed at nearly 6′4 and 214 pounds, Smith is one of the most imposing cornerbacks to enter the draft in recent league history.

A 6'4 corner that runs a 4.4? Sounds like a guy worth checking out to me.... I've included a ridiculous Smith highlight after the jump.

These are certainly tires we should be kicking.

How ironic would it be for us to get a 6’4 corner the same year Burress leaves the division?

And T.O.

In fact, is it between DeSean and Roy Williams for best WR in the division anymore?

so...

everyone agrees that desean is indeed good?

6’4? why didnt this guy come into the NFL (and play for the Eagles) when Plax was still playing for the Giants lol

This pursuit does make sense

given that our FO seems to value OL, DL, QB and CB more than most positions regardless of need.

I always liked Bobby Taylor at 6’3" 190 … having that one tall guy helps a lot, IMHO

wow, that’s an impressive grab…

That highlight

I love the wide receiver. He was totally confused, like: “What the fuck? Did he just intercept that?”

by ajay on Apr 3, 2009 7:25 PM EDT reply actions

Hmm...

Seems like an exceptional athlete, but we do have two very goods corners. He’d be a nice addition, but not really necessary. We’ve got other holes.

by joetimek on Apr 3, 2009 7:53 PM EDT reply actions

If this can play… one of our other holes(safety) could be filled by Sheldon.

by JasonB on Apr 3, 2009 8:55 PM EDT up reply actions

or he could be a safety? maybe?

i'm right there with you.

everyone knows sheldon brown would kill it at the safety position.

by snowhill82 on Apr 5, 2009 6:02 AM EDT up reply actions

He’s a converted WR who only played 2 full seasons at CB. Combine that with his size and speed and he has a ton of upside.

by FredEx on Apr 3, 2009 8:45 PM EDT reply actions

Any idea why he was converted from receiver?

Seems like having that type of size and speed (and perhaps even hands) would be too good to pass up at WR.

by Coatesvillain on Apr 3, 2009 9:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Not exactly sure. Was a high school RB, got moved to WR for Utah. Had only 7 rushes and 1 catch in 11 games. It’s possible he couldn’t run routes, and catch, but I’m assuming he was buried on the depth chart.

by FredEx on Apr 3, 2009 11:08 PM EDT up reply actions

A safety, there's an idea...

if he can hit I wouldn’t mind seeing him out in center field.

by AATG on Apr 4, 2009 1:13 AM EDT reply actions

awesome

i want him on the team now

Can I make a new name?

sean smith is better than jack

what do you guys think?

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

hahaha

And since Jack is better than Asante…
