Edgerin James, Rod Hood, and Travis Laboy released
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4108552
Bad news for Arizona, good news for a team like the Eagles who have the cap to sign some depth. If Hood or Laboy came cheap they would be two young talents to bolster depth at key posistions! And Hood knows our defense.
Out of all the talent out there that got released post draft, these two make the most sense.
The move was to free up some cap space to eventually extend Adrian Wilson, Dansby and Boldin.

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!!!!!
I mentioned this elsewhere Re: Hood
The move came a couple days too late for him.
I’m sure the Eagles would have taken him back before Hobbs and Macho joined the newly contrite Sheldon.
They might have even called and asked. If he played poorly enough to get released, maybe no one views him as a starter, and Hanson has our nickel role locked up … but before Hobbs came to town, we definitely could have used Hood.
Maybe he joins the Pats :)

Surprised that the Cardinals cut Hood
He was a starter for them last season. I always thought he was a fairly solid CB. But I don’t see any room on the Eagles roster for him at CB.

sheldon
he will not play special teams .. if they told me to cover kicks and i was sheldon i would refuse .. hes a top 15 corner.. they start him .. hes better than hobbs hands down .. hobbs is a nickle corner .. hanson i could see them playing .. they paid him a lot and like him .. personally i dont think hansons that great .. but the eagles opinion is differnt .. hanson i could see starting .. hobbs 0 chance

Damn
I wish this happened before the draft. I would definatley prefer Hood to Hobbs, only because I truly believe that Hobbs is Sheldon Brown insurance plain and simple. If Sheldon plays and doesn’t cause a distraction Hobbs will be useless, but if he causes problems, Hobbs steps in. The problem with that is that Hobbs and Sheldon are two completely different types of players – Hobbs is the gambler type (similar to Asante) and Brown is the technician. Brown always takes the bigger, # 1 receivers, but Hobbs isn’t big or strong enough to do so. But Hood is!!!
I like the Hobbs move though ...
… because if Sheldon is his usual self, then Hobbs can basically focus on being an awesome kick returner, which he already is.
I’d like to see Hobbs and Maclin handle returns this year, so Demps can focus on FS and Jackson can take as few hits as possible. Though I wouldn’t mind if they brought him out for key punt returns like they used to do in the old days with Westbrook.
Although if McCoy is any good, maybe they can risk Westbrook once in a while. For old time’s sake.
I digress.
I like the Hobbs move first because he’s a monster kick returner, and second because it’ll light a fire under Sheldon, and third because if he actually has to play instead of Sheldon, we could do worse.
Hopefully it doesn’t come to that.

the addition of macho late in draft was a steal. He was projected to go much earlier and is going to add some talented young depth to our secondary. He also played on the offensive side of the ball last season at Virginia Tech and really helped to mentor a young hokie wide receiving corps.
…i dont see us signing any of these guys
hobbs
hes not useless .. he can return kicks .. maclin can return punts .. its pretty good .. but he wont start .. and if he does our defense goes from top 3 to possibly out of the top 10

Yup because when Samuel and Hobbs were the Patriots starting corners in 2007, their pass defense was absolutely awful…. awful i say! What’s that? Oh, right, they were ranked #6 in pass defense in DVOA… Try again
"I tried to run him over but Eli had his big boy pads on and he kind of stopped me from getting in the end zone. The next time I’ll try to jump over his head.’’ - Asante Samuel
yea
well foos u know i hate u .. and once again ur forgeting something .. harrison .. he was a stud .. hobbs is average at best .. he jumps routes and doesnt have the recovery speed asante has .. hes asante but asante is faster and more talented .. u cant play two asantes .. u need brown who shuts down the receiver on the other side

lol sometimes your comments are just so ridiculous I just have to laugh.
harrison … seriously … Rodney Harrison was the reason the Pats pass defense was ranked #6 … you’re being serious … no you can’t be lol that is insane.
Harrison had 7 PDs whilst Hobbs had 12 and Asante had 18 … if anything the Pats putting pressure on the QB helped a lot more than Old Man Harrison and his walker did.
