Thanks to Jason B! Throwing a bone to Bye Dawk as well.
Jason,
Great job with the weekend coverage. Undoubtedly, you created the best place to follow the draft on-line, to get in depth information about the Eagles' picks, and to rant and rave with the rest of Eagleland.
I have two babies at home and the wife was out of town for the weekend. While I had NFL Network on 24x7, I was not able to watch much. That made your site invaluable to me. Any time I had 2-3 minutes, I was able to hop on.
Bye Dawk :(, I just wanted to give you some props for your additional analysis as well. I do have to give you a hard time for your Jennings obsession. Since when does Andy look at the "big back?" I think Weaver satisfied that need for him this season. Great analysis though and I appreciated your insight.
Thanks again!

Sort of
I do like Wolverine. The comparisons between myself and the real Dawk really end there.

what possesses you to say these things
why not just say “I think bye dawk did an awesome job”. there was no reason to insult jasonb’s reporting
because that would have zero
potential to start a fight on the board. where is the fun in that

Jack
You know (or maybe you dont?) I agree with you a lot, and disagree with you a lot, but this was a ridiculous thing to say. I respect all of your opinions, and never get mad at ya, etc, but this time even I’m on the edge.
That’s just mean, man. Straight up an asshole thing to say. Jason does a phenomenal job with the site, and did an excellent job during the draft. The fact that he can even be compared, one person, to the 300-odd ESPN personnel working on draft analysis (which Bye Dawk admits he used) is a testament to his capabilities and the job he did on the draft.
Maybe you’re havin a particularly bad day, man, but that was out of line.
Jason, you’re the least disappointing thing on this site. The draft was done exceptionally well, and kudos for covering from NYC. Keep up the exemplary work, it’s been incredible being here since the site was a baby and seeing it become the best place for Eagles info and discussion in any media medium, internet or not.

jack...
you spend all your time spewing absolute bullshit and rhetoric, and then you turn around and take shots at JasonB for his slow updates? take a second to think about your next move, and then shut the fuck up. nothing you post has any relevance. reading your posts is like eating celery. no nutritional content.

Just to add a compliment ...
… I was stuck in driver improvement class all through Day 2 of the draft, so all I had was my iPhone for updates during the breaks. The updates were definitely on point, especially given all the confusion with what the Eagles were actually doing.
I was a little ticked I can’t post to the mobile BGN, but other than that, it was top notch.
Just glad I wasn’t checking during the thing. I would have yelled out when I saw the Ellis Hobbs thing.

Jack loves Michael Irvin
What do we think of Todd McShay exclaiming that Ingram will be the starter in 2 years? Thoughts?? He looks pretty lanky to me… Does anybody remember the hype around Jason Dunn? Our team looks great and I love Celek but I think we should have used one of earlier picks (that we traded) for a legit tight end that could challenge celek….
all in all i love the draft and Andy took us all by surprise by trading up for a shhh dont say it, wide receiver!
My personal meaningless opinion draft grade: A- (I would have liked to see them take more chances with the middle round [2-4] but I love the peters and hobbs moves, sorry sheldon.)
hobbs
a third corner and return guy i like him ..a starter he is not

weird because I watched him start every game last year … but you must be right them Pats are stupid.
"The 0-2 pitch, swing and a miss! STRUCK HIM OUT! The Philadelphia Phillies are 2008 World Champions of baseball! And let the city celebrate! " - Harry Kalas 1936-2009
yeah i don’t know what those Patriots were thinking in 2007 marching Asante Samuel and Ellis Hobbs out there as their starting corners… I mean clearly Jack Ike is a superior player to Asante Samuel and Ellis Hobbs is not a quality starter. Obviously if those two jokers are your starting corners, you’re going to have a rough season… I mean they would have HAD to be pure shit against the pass…. note drops on desk
What’s this? Hmmm, someone just dropped a note on my desk… It seems that the Patriots were 17-0 in 2007 and also the 6th rated pass defense (DVOA)… Whodda Thunk It?
"I tried to run him over but Eli had his big boy pads on and he kind of stopped me from getting in the end zone. The next time I’ll try to jump over his head.’’ - Asante Samuel
I love how Mel Kiper gave us a B-
but we drafted his 7th overall @ 19… (maclin)
his 21st overall @ 53 (McCoy)
and got a great TE prospect in the 5th round, who was the 2nd best TE in Kiper’s draft, after Pettigrew of course…
what a load of bull..
I loved it when Todd McShay started to piss Kiper off cause he was actually making better points than Kiper.
Yeah a B- sounds a little low. If that information is correct about Mccoy and Ingram, then even more so.
Anyone know what his overall ranks were for our players?
If I recall correctly he had Maclin as the 10th best prospect. We got him at 19 (at only the expense of only a 6th) We still addressed the RB position, with a good value. Added who he thought was a good TE late. Got a serviceable CB as Sheldon insurance. Got more picks for next year. But I guess I don’t have to tell any of you this.
He gives us a B- and gives the Jets an A- for getting the 6th-ish best player and nothing else.
mcshay
i really like mcshay .. he knows his shit

what did you think of kiper's assessment
I realize i’m biased, but I thought B- was ridiculous. I also know you like Kiper, so what did you think of his grade? and just to point out that i’m not blinded by my allegiance…he also gave the giants a B, and I thought they deserved higher as well. also, I realize these grades don’t matter…just curious.
I know that was (atleast mostly) geared at JIBTA but,
It seemed to me the Giants took a bunch of guys with falling stock fairly close to where they were initially projected. Nicks had his weight issues, Beatty’s physical and mental toughness were being questioned, Sintim was potentially mostly a 3-4 rush guy, Barden has his question marks with the low level of competition. I like the Beckum (although maybe the best TE left) and Brown picks. Bomar was worth a shot.
All that said, I think it was solid haul for them. I think I agree with the B.Maybe throw a plus on there perhaps. I saw Rob Rang give them an A+.
I mentioned earlier my thoughts on the Eagles. I guess you could argue it , but based on his rankings of the players, and grades for other teams I don’t get it.
i agree with JIBTA
dont say that one too often lol
and you dont need stats to back that one up
"You always hear about ballplayers buying numbers from other players for five figures. When this .300 lifetime hitter was in Philly, he traded his number to Mitch Williams for two cases of beer." - Stuff Magazine on John Kruk
That was weird
He also had 0 negative things to say about our draft in his commentary, whereas with other B’s/B-’s he usually harped on something or other. I almost thought it was a typo, and he meant to give an A-.
Jason B
Thanks for the work you did over the weekend. I had a pretty hectic weekend and could only check in here and there. I found the information that was posted here timely and accurate. This was the place to come for updates.
Keep up the good work!
The fact that you went up and back
on the train showed some serious dedication :)
