Eagles UFA signings
Marcus Thigpen- Graduated with a bachelor of general studies in December 2008. Thigpen finished second in school history with 2,009 career kick return yards, third with 4,658 career all-purpose yards and tied for eighth with 21 career touchdowns. He became the first player in school history with over 1,000 yards in rushing (1,621), receiving (1,028) and kickoff return yards (2,009) and became the 19th rusher in school history to cross the 1,500-yard rushing barrier. Thigpen is just the fifth player in Indiana lore to go over 4,500 career all-purpose yards. He also finished fifth in Big Ten history with 2,009 kick return yards, tied for third with three kick return scores and shared sixth with 81 kickoff returns.
His college accomplishments look IDENTICAL to Wesbrooks.
Reshard Langford-Langford's 48 consecutive career starts -- every game he played in as a collegian -- were the most ever by a Commodore defensive back. As a fifth-year senior, he had 49 solo tackles and 76 total stops (both single-season highs) along with three interceptions, one of which he returned 42 yards for a touchdown against Tennessee.
"Reshard will make a huge impression on the Philadelphia coaches with his talent, effort and desire to help anyway he can,” Vanderbilt Coach Bobby Johnson said. "He was tremendous here, both on and off the field. Reshard Langford is one of those guys you build winning teams around.”

Looks like we have 20 Kick Returners. This years emphasis is taking the work load from Desean and getting many KR and keeping the best for the season.
Astra Inclinant, Non Necessitant
Fast.
Marcus Thigpen is really, really, really fast. Most IU fans (or at least I) thought Thigpen was miscast as an every down back, but take a look at his big play numbers. Just in 2008, he had rushing TD and of 78, 77, 67, 57, and 31 yards and receiving TDs of 79 and 71 yards. That’s 461 yards on 7 plays.
The main concern is that his return game (kick returner seems like his main possible NFL contribution) peaked as a sophomore, but he’s a burner.

Sorry, Thigpen's no Westbrook
Lifelong Eagle fan here. Grew up in southeastern PA and attended Indiana, where I watched just about every game of Thigpen’s inconsistent IU career.
Marcus was a track star at Indiana and is very fast running north-to-south. He doesn’t, however, have Westbrook’s great lateral movement, patience, or footwork. For years, I tried to make the Thigpen/Westbrook connection, but it’s just not there. Thigpen lacks that elusive nature that makes Westbrook to deadly. While Thigpen is similar in size to Westbrook, he can’t take a hit. He goes down with even the slightest bit of contact. I will say though, that he wasn’t utilized nearly as much in the “screen” game as I would’ve liked to see.
He was a great kick returner for us in college and will burn most guys in a straight foot race up the sideline, but I’ve seen enough of him to confidently say he will probably never be a feature back in the NFL. He plays football like a track star: give him the football and he will run straight as fast as he can…..either into the endzone or directly into a tackler.
