Our 3rd rounder got us a 3, a 5, a 7, and helped us get Ellis Hobbs
Well, it all started in the 1st round when we traded up with the Browns from 21 to 19 and selected Jeremy Maclin. This move only cost us our 6th round pick this year.
Then, in the 3rd round, we traded the 85th overall pick to the Giants for their 91st (3rd round) and 161st (5th round) overall picks.
They then dealt that 91st overall pick to the Seahawks for the 137th (5th round) and 213th (7th round) overall picks, as well as the Seahawks 3rd round pick in 2010.
With our 2 first picks in the 5th round, we were able to acquire Ellis Hobbs, a 3-year starter for the New England Patriots.
We also traded our last 5th round pick (acquired earlier from the Giants) to the Saints for a 7th rounder this year and a 5 next year.
So ultimately with our 3rd round pick we were able to acquire the following...
- The Seahawks 5th round pick, which was used with another 5 to get Ellis Hobbs
- The Seahawks 3rd round pick in 2010
- The Saints 7th round pick in 2009
- The Saints 2010 5th round pick
Not to go Spadaro on everyone here, but the Eagles "get it." Getting that much value for a 3rd round pick is absolutely remarkable. Great job by the front office. (Clapping)

well, i am still kinda pissed off about gift wrapping a 6'6" WR for the giants
they paid a hefty ransom to move up those 6 picks, but still, i don’t much like the idea that he’ll be on their team solely due to the reid regime.
i was at MSG when the eagles traded down in 2003 and dallas picked chris canty, but this definitely feels a lot worse. canty was just a run stuffing 3-4 DE, but barden’s got the potential to throw up double digit TD numbers.
brian mccann: derek lowe's got the best slider i've ever seen
john smoltz: yeah? and josh bard's the best catcher i've ever thrown to.

Anthony Spencer...
The Eagles traded their 1 in 2006 for the Cowboys’ 2, 3, and 5, which later turned out to be Kevin Kolb, Stewart Bradley, and CJ Gaddis. The Cowboys took Anthony Spencer. We know how that deal worked out. Expect more of the same with this one.
Eagles on the clock...
I’d like Jennings…but I’m betting LB

he actually kinda looks like an avant clone.
6’1", moderate speed, highly productive in college.

Another Receiver......
Wow we are going to be an awesome offence this year………… splat, i just soiled my pants!!!!!
Hobbs? What am I missing?
When I look at the numbers for Ellis Hobbs, it seems his KO return ability alone makes this a good trade. His numbers look pretty good as a corner too! What am I missing? Why in the world would NE give up on him? Is it because he pulled a Sheldon? They practically gave him away. It looks great for us but as an Eagle fan, I am looking for the cloud. What is the drawback to Ellis Hobbs?
Yeah...
This may be a move to get Demps off the Kickoff return team, since he’s going up the depth chart…

Absolutely
We now have a plethora of returners on the team. I guess we won’t miss the days of Reno Mahe, Greg Lewis, and JR Reed returning? Buckhalther? Honestly, we have not been that set up for a good return game since the days of Brian Mitchell. Still curious how we got Hobbs for so cheap.
He's good
but he’s not great. Belichick wanted to revamp the CB corps, they signed a buncha guys, and felt that he was being paid too much for a #3 or so CB. We have the cap space that NE doesn’t, so we basically were able to get good value.
Hobbs
with the KOR ability and as Sheldon insurance, was the icing on the cake.
The icey-icing will be Scheffler for a pick next year :)
Still waiting for the Eagles to Bring It Home For Jerome
