This may be the year to trade down, again!

I know that most Eagles fans don’t want to hear that. Trade down, are you crazy? Again? Are we ever going to draft a first rounder? But this year it may make more sense than ever.

Let’s look at some of the positions of need for this team going into the draft.

RB, TE, S, WR, SLB, C

Now lets say that they love Moreno, if he goes higher than 15, then we know that they are OK with Donald Brown. But you won’t draft Donald Brown @ 21. There is no S, TE, WR SLB, C worth drafting at 21. If you believe that you can’t correct that Sheldon Brown ordeal, you may consider Sean Smith CB from Utah at 21. But other than that, there are no other players that make sense here.

That is why the Eagles may trade down, to the early first round, and use what ever additional picks received in that trade to move up that # 53  pick to a high to mid/high second round pick.

In essence, you can trade # 21 & #53 for something like # 36 and #40. Of course, this would require 2 trades. We must first trade #21 for a pick like #36, and whatever we got for #21 we can use that to package it with #53 to get to #40.

You can get Donald Brown, and Luis Delmas/ William Moore (or maybe Vontae Davis if he slips that far) or basically anyone else you like as a high second rounder.

Sure beats drafting Donald Brown and Chase Coffman. Although, I must say, I love Chase Coffman. The point is that you get the same guy you are targeting in the first round, and you are afforded the opportunity to move higher in the second round, giving you a better player.

Basically, if Moreno goes, expect us to move out Again.

If Moreno is gone this is exactly what I want to happen. Sean Smith is also a good Safety Prospect due to his size, so he would be a good pick for us.

I just know some idiot Iggles Fans

are gonna boo if we don’t get Moreno.
Even if Moreno is gone, they’ll boo.
Retards.
If we took a first day Corner, I’d know something was up with Sheldon.
If we traded, I’d be excited who it was with(cough cough, Cardinals)
Yeah Right, in my wildest dreams.
Moreno, I’d be elated, Pettigrew, I’d be excited.
So, I’m just ready for something Football, Eagles related!
I’m hoping for Louis Murphy in the mid rounds.
I think he’s this years biggest WR sleeper.
GO BIRDS! Don’t boo!

I would prefer the trade down than the drafting of Donald Brown @ 21.

I prefer the trade down scenario with Donald Brown at the top of the 2nd with another high second round pick. I am not in love with that late 2nd round pick. Hard to get what you want there.

Just curious

Would anyone consider drafting Percy Harvin if he keeps dropping? Don’t crucify me I’m just asking peoples opinion …

Andy loves him,

He said he was intrigued by his and Crabtrees talent.
Yeah, we take him if he slips to the late second. No doubt. He don’t slide that far though.

Size may be an issue, but skill and play making ability are def. not. I’d love to have Percy on this team. He pretty much single handedly crushed my beloved Sooners…..and he was playing with a busted ankle/ leg.

Loooooook here brotha'.....who you jivein' with that Cosmic Debris!!!???

Harvin will play his entire career on a busted ankle. I remember when he actually got healthy and said his ankle never felt this good since like 9th grade. Then later in the season, you guessed it, he hurt his ankle.

Trade down, get Unger or Mack. Then in the second, get Rashad Jennings.

Why not

Just like any trade it depends on what we get for it. Under no circumstances would I say, “We absolutely cannot trade down again….”

Sean Smith

at 21 is a bit of a reach in my opinion! I think he´ll slip into the second round easily!
if moreno is gone i´m all for trading down an picking up brown at the end of the first!
i don´t think brown will last into the second rd

Some have Sean Smith going as high as 15.

Its rare to get a 6’4’ CB who can jump and playwell. I think there is a 75% chance he goes in the first round. Right around 20-25 ish. But that is me.

Smiths stock has skyrised recently. Must be the size.

you never know! i know he has the size but my opinion is based on a scouting report where they had him going late in the second! i can´t remember why! we´ll see

i would have no problem when the eagles draft him

The bottom line is ...

… who cares what round they are drafted in if they produce. I would’ve been just as happy with DeSean Jackson last season if he was a late first-rounder rather than a mid-second rounder. Instead we traded back and got additional value.

So if we do that again, and still end up with Brown/Smith/Coffman or McCoy/Cook/Smith (whatever), in the end, if our top few picks produce, I’ll be pleased.
