How do you think Dawk feels now?

Now that Cutler and any playoff chance was just traded away how do you think he feels about signing.  He had to of signed with Denver understanding that this was the last team he would be with that had even an outside shot of getting him the elusive SB ring.  Now even that long shot has disappeared.  I can't imagine he's happy.  Now i just have to type more so that this can be posted as a fan post and I won't back down for a fanshot.  Now I'm done, tell me what you think about my original point.

The same

He didn’t go to Denver to win a superbowl ring. He went to Denver because they offered him the most money. Cutler being there or not doesn’t change the $9 million he’ll get over the next two years.

When I look at this team, I still don't feel as though we are very far away, we still have to work hard and do the things we are capable of, but we do have the chance to get back and come back strong." -Brian Westbrook-

I think it's safe to say if we by some miracle of God win the Super Bowl within the next two years

Brian Dawkins will not sleep easy for at least four months after. Just because he missed out on experiencing the opportunity.

why will it take a miracle

the Eagles are perfectly capable on winning a Super Bowl this season

Dont muddy his image

come on guys dont make it sound like he ran out of philly and sold out. we offered him squat compared to Denver. it was an insult what we offered him. I dont wanna hear about it. He wanted to stay, no doubt about it. but what did u want him to do? sign the lousy offer that philly offered him?

by BDawkins20 on Apr 2, 2009 11:38 PM EDT reply actions

it really wasn't lousy as much as denver's offer was insane

and i feel like he could find some way to feed his family off the offer from the eagles…

2 year 6 mil

is not squat. That was a great offer. He went for the extra 3 mil.

And the extra years. While only the first two years are guaranteed, I think he honestly believes he’ll play until he’s 40.

by JasonB on Apr 3, 2009 11:33 AM EDT up reply actions

It doesn’t muddy his image. He’s a professional and this is likely his last contract. I don’t blame him for chasing the money, but let’s not act like this was about anything else.

this will make it easier for him ... now its just about money

and has security as that … now its just a job for him … imo

he deserved a pay day though...

our front office treated him like crap and underpaid him… yet brian took it to stay in philly. he deserves the money he’s going to get.

Treated him like crap? Underpaid him? WHen? They gave him a huge contract after he turned 30 years old! They never do that! The fact that they were willing to give him yet another huge contract at 36 years old isn’t treating him like crap, it’s just good business.

I love Dawkins just as much as anyone here… but that stuff shouldn’t confuse the reality of the situation. This was purely a business decision for both sides.

bdawk

Last i checked he plays on the defensive side of the ball…this is gonna give denver a lot of options of adding some def. weapons which they desp. need. So all in all, i think this actually better for dawk. Also, im sure he’ll mentor those young players very well. I dont see dawk really caring too much bout all this, he had enough drama w/ mcnabb in philly to know how to shrug this off.

"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."

I wonder if Denver wishes they hadnt spent so much money on Dawk

They’re clearly in total rebuild mode now… wouldnt 9 million be better spent on a younger player?

The Eagles would give him a ring like the Colts gave Edge a ring.

that is so true. The would definantly give him a ring, but it might be a little hollow to him

Don’t be so quick to judge. Kyle Orton actually may not be that bad when he has Marshall, Royal and Scheffler to throw to. There is a decent chance that the loss of Cutler does not hurt the Broncos nearly as much as people think. And the added picks allow them to get some immediate impact players on D, which was their main weak point last season.

I don’t know he had Hester/Olsen and a running back named Forte. Not exactly Marshall/Royal but he had a great running game. The Bears actually have a good team they were just missing a QB. Might be a little to late now that there D is getting older but who knows.
