2007 and 2008 1st-Round Trade Downs
So, to summarize, the Eagles received the following players for those two first-round draft picks: Jason Peters, Stewart Bradley, Trevor Laws, Quintin Demps, Mike McGlynn and Kevin Kolb and, as the Eagles see it, gave them flexibility to take Brent Celek and DeSean Jackson.

And for full disclosure...
…I was as pissed off as anybody when we made both of these trades. This is why fans are fans and GMs are GMs.
Throw out the “gave them flexibility to take Brent Celek and DeSean Jackson” rhetoric. Saw that on Spadaro’s column on the Eagles website. That’s nonsense.
But the point is well-taken. Both trades were excellent. At the time, I LOVED the trade they made with the Panthers, but hated the Cowboys trade. Give the FO credit – They’re batting 1.000 trading back. Don’t be shocked if they do it again.
Big Red said they were thinking about thinking about taking Desean at 19 but were concerned about his attitude like a lot of other teams. I think if we kept the pick he would of been our selection.
I think Red said that to make it seem we wanted Desean the whole time.
One reason Jackson was so good last season was he came in with a chip on his shoulder. I expect him to do well again this season, but he progressed and worked hard to show the mistake ever other team made by passing on him when he got to camp last season.
I think we would have taken Otah personally, but Carolina talked us out of it.
