Madden Retires
Just read that John Madden announced his retirement from broadcasting. Although he never was my favorite announcer, I did grow up listening to him. Great football coach and a great football mind in general in my opinion. I know a lot of people never really liked him, but he was easy to follow for everyone that didn't know much about football and wasn't the worst announcer that's out there.

I grew up with him so it’s going to be tough not listening to him.

That’s the first thing that caught my attention. Chris Collinsworth is a terrible broadcaster, I hope Al Michaels keeps him in check.

the team that scores the most points is probably going to win this game.

It just isn’t going to be the same Sunday Night Football without Madden. Al Michaels and John Madden in the booth was a match made in heaven. I’m serious when I say they are a huge part of why I enjoy SNF. Even if Madden makes obvious comments, he really is a huge part of football culture, gotta love the guy.

Seems like he's been around forever
I remember him as a coach when I was a kid. Those Lite Beer commercials he was in cracked me up. As a broadcaster I think he was better in the early years when he teamed with Summerall. Still it won’t be the same without him calling games.

end of an era
love him or hate him he’s been the face of the nfl for a while now.
"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."
