Which Trade?
There has been speculation from a plethora of sources about various trades pretty much since pre-draft last year. Speculation of trading for Chad Johnson and Anquan Boldin were big last year. And the the Chad Johnson trade talks died down but there was and is an what seems as a everlasting rumor that Anquan Boldin will be traded and it quite possibly could be the Eagles. And now the Chad Johnson rumors are heating up again and now theres rumors of Braylon Edwards. But then theres a wild card of Jason Peters the LT from Buffalo that has been thrown into the rink. So with the draft drawing ever so closer i just want to speculate on the different trade possibilities and see what ever one else thinks on the issue. If we were to trade picks and possible players who would you want to be traded for?
Chad Johnson- Chad Johnson is probably the oldest trade rumor. Now we all know Chad Johnson is a flamboyant player and an excellent flamboyant player at that. He's 31 years old which should definitly be a factor in trading for him. But to be honest he reminds me and probably Andy Reid to much of TO. Having discontent with his old team and requesting to be traded. He had a big mouth, so i feel to Andy atleast its to much of a risk v. reward to trade.
Cost- On the NFL Network it was speculated that it would take two first rounders to get Chad but i dont think thats accurate. With his age an all i know for a fact hes ot gonna get two first from any team pending the marijuana intake of the other teams GM. If Eagles were to make a run id see maybe a first and 3rd/or Reggie Brown and maybe getting a late round pick (probably 5-6-7) in return w/ 85
Anquan Boldin-Anquan is arguably one of the top 5 recievers in the game right now. He is a bigger reciever Mac has been craving more than Momma McNabbs Campbells Chunky Soup. But again theres the mouth on him. He wants big money and im sure that we will give him it if he do aquire him but you gotta look at his progatives. Last year after the Cards beat us in the NFCCG Boldin stormed off the field and didnt celebrate the victory and the fact he's goin to the Super Bowl w/ his team. I just dont see this guy as a team player and i do see him as a guy that money first guy.
Cost- I think his cost is similiar to Chads. a First and 3rd. with smaller picks pending to flip flop.
Braylon Edwards- This kid is probably the most wild wild card in the bunch. Recently put on the block. He definitly is a talented reciever but he has drops and inconsistent QB play and he's young so he is relatively an unknown comadity. But the one thing i really look at which kinda affects the possibility of actually trading for him is the whole situation in Cleveland. They gotta new head coach and a young QB in Brady Quinn. With Stallworth probably not coming back to Cleveland they are thin at reciever. They are pretty much handing Brady Quinn the keys to there franchise. I dont see them dealing away arguably there only offensive weapon that this young QB has.
Cost-Again the cost may be real similiar to the others but with them being a rebuilding franchise i see it being a little higher. 1st and 2nd rounder plus later round pick.
Jason Peters-Peters is relatively new to the trading block. He have a arguable hole at LT and he is a arguable great Tackle. He has made the ProBowl and played real well up in TOville. But he has been inconsistent, given up sacks(lots of sacks), and is possibly a locker room disruption. He has heldout before and is a child of the money. He wants his money and he will disrupt if he doesnt get it. But the formost reason i dont see us going for him is i feel our line is just fine the way it is now. Move Herramens out to LT, MJG to LG, and Cole and JJackson fight it out for Center and you got the AndrewCO on the right side. All in all our line looks like this:
Herramens-MJG-Cole-Andrew1-Andrew2
Cost- Jason Peters would be th highest priced guy i feel. It would take two firsts to get him. I dont see us giving this years two firsts BUT if it were to go down i think id be One first this year and next years first.
So pick your poison evaluate the costs and situations and who do you feel is most worth the price and backlash

A first and a third for Chad is insane. If Boldin Costs the same amount, why the heck would you even LOOK at Chad.
Chad is work a 3rd and thats it after last season.

But its not like Madden where everyone is available
the Cardinals might not be willing to deal Boldin at all. The I agree 110% id take Boldin over CJ anyday at that price but you gotta look at the teams willingness to deal.
and i dont think you can take last years numbers into account when looking at Chads effectiveness now. Caeson Palmer was hurt and he had inconsistent QB play. Chad Johnson is still a hell of a player
To me the Eagles are like that girlfriend that pisses u off, then u hate her, but the next morning you wake up and remember that thing u love so much about her

chad
he was worth two first last year and they turned it down .. hes a better wr than boldin .. boldin is a product of Larry drawing the other teams attention .. hes good but not great .. chads the game changer . . edwards is also better than boldin .. hes incosstant .. but he has the potential to be a true number 1 .. peters is prob worth more because hes a tackle .. so hes at a valued position .. and being hes a top 5 tackle .. a first and a second is reasonable ..

Peters
If Jason Peters would really cost 2 first round picks – no deal, but right now Peters has the Bills over a proverbial barrel. I don’t think he would cost that much. I’d be cool with #28 (a place where most mocks have us taking a tackle) a fourth this year, and a conditional pick next up to a second rounder -based on performance and results…
by cavortingEagle on Apr 15, 2009 10:07 AM EDT reply actions 1 recs
no way is Peters going to get 2 #1 picks. That might be Buffalo’s “opening, shooting for the moon, we know we are never going to get this but we have to start somewhere offer” but they know it to.
Buffalo knows this could be their last chance to get any value for JP. If they dont trade him, and dont extend him everyone knows he is going to holdout until day 1 of the regular season (if not longer). Come in out of shape and have another below average season. At that point what option will they have?? The bad blood between the 2 parties will be so strong neither will be interested in talking new contract, coming off 2 poor seasons his trade value will be midround (at best).
Buffalo knows their only options are to pay that man his money or trade him.

I would argue that a GM would need to be smoking something a bit harder, like crack, to even consider giving up 2 1st’s for Chad. Two first rounders is a lot to give up for any player.
I hope the current rumor of Edwards going to the Giants is not true. Like Plax, he will fool people into thinking Eli is good again. Not to mention that 2 times a year, we will have to deal with Edwards stretching the field while we try to contain their running game.

Edwards Stats
From Football Outsiders
DYAR represents Defense Adjusted Yards above Replacement and catch rate is the number of balls thrown in Edwards direction that actually end up being caught. Edwards compared with some receivers from the Eagles roster. Note that Desean in 2008 wasn’t the Eagles top rated receiver in either DYAR or catch rate nor was Reggie in 2005.
2008 Edwards DYAR -45, catch rate 40% DeSean Jackson DYAR 41 cr 52%
2007 Edwards DYAR 189, catch rate 52% Kevin Curtis DYAR 195, cr 57%
2006 Edwards DYAR 25, catch rate 49% Reggie Brown DYAR 174, cr 50%
2005 Edwards DYAR 71, catch rate 54% Reggie Brown DYAR 46, CR 54%
I actually don’t think I’m too worried about the prospect of Edwards in Blue. He’s fast – sure, but is he worth a first and 3rd round pick? I don’t think so and I’d actually encourage the Giants to make the deal, because in the long run I think a trade like that will make them worse.

Option E - Tony Gonzalez
Tony Gonzalez-Tony is one of the top 5 tight ends in the game right now. He is a bigger reciever #5 has been craving. He also plays at the TE position where we’re thin with one roster worthy player currently. There’s no locker room issues here, Tony just wants to win a ring and we can provide that option here. He’s a fit here because he’s a big red zone target, he can block, has good hands and can still get his YAC.
Cost- Gonzalez would probably be the lowest priced of the bunch. It would take two picks to get him. Either a 2nd and a 4th or a 2nd and a 5th I believe.
The only downside here is his age which I mitigate by saying he’s showed limited if any signs of aging at all. There are seldom exceptions to the rule with regards to father time but this guy isn’t regressing to a dud in the next 2 seasons.
If the window of opportunity is still there we gotta leap for it.

if Tony Gonzalez is Option E can I start a motion to name Vernon Davis as Option E2??
Vernon gets killed a lot for under performing but I dont think that is all his fault. Lets take a list at the QBs he has had to work with
2008
Shaun Hill
JT OSullivan
2007
Trent Dilfer
Alex Smith
Shaun Hill
Chris Weinke
2006
Alex Smith
Combine that list above with playing in Mike “I dont use TEs” Martz’s system for a year or two and is it any wonder how/why he hasnt put up big numbers? He is a better blocker than any TE in the draft not named Pettigrew (by a wide margin) and is still probably even more athletic than some of the 2nd/3rd round targets being mentioned.
I honestly think Singletary wouldnt hesitate to trade him for some of the many midround picks we have stockpiled. I know its a pipe-dream but he honestly is my #1 target (college or vet) on draft day.

i agree
id love vernon davis .. hes a physical freak .. and more athletic than most TEs in this league let alone this draft .. he could be a star still

I think it depends on who is there at #28 for me. Depending on who we take at #21(let’s say Moreno) then I would want to see if Hakeem Nicks is there. I think he would be a great compliment to Desean and I guess a bonus for people wanting Boldin or Ocho Cinco is that he has been compared to both of them.

boldin
he is not underpayed .. he wants fitz money .. and he doesnt deserve it .. and hes not a team distraction .. he was only angry because he wasnt playing .. thats a normal human reaction .. boldins actually a pretty boring wr who just shows up and plays .. not much drama ..

Browns
There’s nothing out there that remotely states the keys in Cleveland have been handed to Quinn. Mangini is a lunatic who’s supposedly shopping Anderson, Quinn and Edwards at the same time. Combine that notion with the Winslow trade… Who knows what their plan on offense is.

Anquan isn't that big
[Anquan Boldin] is a bigger reciever Mac has been craving more than Momma McNabbs Campbells Chunky Soup.
Boldin: 6’1" 217
Jason Avant: 6’0" 212
Hank Baskett: 6’4" 220
Around the Division:
Domenik Hixon: 6’2" 182
Miles Austin: 6’3" 216
Anquan is a good receiver, but not this huge target that people make him out to be. Braylon Edwards is a bigger target at 6’3" 215

yes!
exactly hes good .. but there making him seem like a superstar .. hes a good wr .. id actually take roy williams over him .. you can call me crazy .. and he had a bad year last year .. i agree . but williams did lead the league in receiving yards the year before playing with kitna .. and hes a game changer .. he will have a pretty good year in dallas .. but they will still suck because they cut TO .. TO and williams would of been the best one two combo in the league .. yes even better than larry fitz n boldin .. because i rank them 1.ftiz 2 TO 3 ROY 4 Boldin .. so while arizona has the best wr in the game .. the cowboys could of had the better combo .. but jerry jones is an idiot and let jason garret ruin his team .. fuck jason garrett .. he was terreble as a player .. hasnt done shit as a coordinatior .. and still is perceived as the next great nfl coach .. if hes so great . why is phillips there .. cuz phillips is a bad coach .. stupid decesion just cost the cowboys the playoffs lol which is awsome! .. and one more thing .. MAURICE JONES DREW top 3 rb in the league? hahahahahahaha hes too damn small .. hes lucky to be top 10 .. which hes not

BOLDIN IS CLEARLY THE BETTER WR
Boldin has broken several NFL records. In his rookie year, Boldin had 101 catches and was the only rookie selected to the 2004 Pro Bowl. Boldin also set an NFL record for most receiving yards by a rookie in his first game (217), and holds the NFL record for most receptions in the first 26 games of an NFL career (157) as well as the fastest to record 300 career receptions (47 games).
Boldin was injured and missed part of the season but yet still caught more than 100 passes for over 1,400 yards.
In 2007, Boldin became the quickest player in NFL history to compile 400 receptions and was selected to play in the 2007 Pro Bowl for the NFC, along with teammate Adrian Wilson.
On December 7, 2008, in a win against the St. Louis Rams, Boldin became the first player in Arizona Cardinal franchise history to gain 1,000 yards receiving in four consecutive seasons.
IF WE TRADE FOR ANYONE LET IT BE A. BOLDIN, A FUTURE CERTAIN HALL OF FAMER. THIS GUY SHOULD RETIRE IN EAGLE GREEN.
