Eagles Notes: Merrill on Kalas, small school talent, & the NFL schedule
- Longtime voice of the Eagles Merrill Reese commented on the passing of longtime voice of the Phils and his friend, Harry Kalas.
"When you think of Harry, you think of the great, resonant voice, the great home run calls. When you think of Harry Kalas, you think of the legends - Vin Scully, Harry Caray, Jack Brickhouse. He belongs right in that group, announcers as big as or bigger than the players they cover."
- The NFL releases its 2009/2010 schedule tonight at 7pm live on NFL network. Be sure to check out BGN for a live blog of the event. NFL senior VP for media operations Howard Katz is in charge of crafting the schedule.
"This is one of the most complicated and complex things I've ever been involved with. You're trying to serve 37 different masters - the 32 individual teams and the five networks. Everybody's lobbying and their interests aren't always consistent. So what we've got to do is look at how we can produce the best overall schedule from a league perspective that is fairest for all of the teams and is as fair as we can make it for our [television] partners."
- Finally, the Eagles are taking a look at small school TE prospects Rob Agnone from Delaware and John Nalbone from Monmouth.

Agnone is a good player
He is a transfer from Pitt and played with Flacco at UD. He has great hands and decent speed and I can see him in a camp as a FA. I’ve seen him catch some rockets over the middle from Flacco. To show you want kind of guy Flacco is, he came back to UD and threw to Agnone and Aaron Love for their pro days, pretty cool, IMO.

should have read “what we’ve got to do is look at how we can produce the best overall schedule from a television perspective, ensuring that the Cowboys are on prime time as much as possible so we can make as much money as possible”

they need to get the cowboys on TV during the season because they won’t get a chance in the playoffs.
"The 0-2 pitch, swing and a miss! STRUCK HIM OUT! The Philadelphia Phillies are 2008 World Champions of baseball! And let the city celebrate! " - Harry Kalas 1936-2009

"I tried to run him over but Eli had his big boy pads on and he kind of stopped me from getting in the end zone. The next time I’ll try to jump over his head.’’ - Asante Samuel
