Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Gauging The Eagles' Interest In Larry Johnson

Greetings from Arrowhead Pride.

There has been a lot of talk lately, among Chiefs fans, about Larry Johnson's future with the Chiefs. As some of us over at AP try to work out possible trade scenarios on draft day, estimating LJ's value becomes an important datum. A recent poll at AP has attempted to answer this question.

Star-divide

However, asking Chiefs fans about LJ's value is a bit like "get(ting) a good look at a T-bone by sticking your head up a butcher's ass." So, instead, I've opted to ask the butcher himself and poll you guys on LJ's trade value. I plan on reporting the results of this poll to my fellow Chiefs fans.

I've selected the Eagles because it seems you may have a real interest in garnering the services of a veteran back who still has some tread on the tires.

So, without further ado:

i really don’t know why we haven’t made a move already, this guy was ridiculous only like 2 years ago and chiefs would probably accept a 3rd and a 5th.. even though now that i think about it, it might be too much but i’d do it if i were the eagles

Personally, I like the fit. A few years back, when the Chiefs were perhaps the best screen-team in the NFL, LJ was great in his role – moving the chains on the ground and catching the occasional screen pass for nice yardage. Plus he’s only 2 years removed from back-to-back 1,700+ yard rushing seasons, and his personal/injury issues aside last year, he ran for 4.5 ypc and compiled 850+ yards in 12 games on a below average offense with a shaky O-line.

His childish behavior though, is a big concern, as is his age (29 years old, which is like 34 in RB years). I’d only consider it if LJ would be OK with a severely diminished role. If that were the case, I’d be comfortable parting with a 4 for him.

wouldnt work out, he was whining about having a diminished role in KC when they moved to a more pass based offense. our offense is more pass-based then perhaps any other offense, nevermind the fact that hed be splitting what little carries there are to go around with westbrook.

I'd send a 4th and a 5th

We have a ton of picks anyway, so why not?

I’m a bit apathetic towards LJ. He’d be great, but he’d also be a headache and is a bigger question mark than the point of bailing out AIG.

i would only do it if the eagles don’t use one of their 1st – 3rd picks on a quality back like brown or moreno. even then, i wouldn’t want to pay the guy. maybe we’d send a 4th or 5th rounder.

Remis,

I am simply attempting to determine how fans in other cities perceive LJ’s worth. If you can suggest a more practical method of gathering this information, please share. As for originality, I wrote the post and therefore possess all entitlement to reproducing it. If you are suggesting I am lazy, I would respond that only a boob would think rewriting the post is worthwhile.

I've been rapping for about seveteen years okay? I don't write my stuff anymore I just kick it from my head you know what I'm sayin? I can do that. No disrespect but that's how I am.

Just won't happen

No way we would feature him enough to be happy. He’d be a problem in no time.

I would give up absolutely nothing.

If the Chiefs released LJ tomorrow I still wouldn’t sign his sorry ass.

He has been arrested 4 times for beating or some sort of assault towards women and that doesn’t fly in my book. He shouldn’t be making millions of dollars he should be drinking his dinner through a straw.

And he hasn’t finished a season since 06, no thanks.

Dinner through a straw is my sentiment exactly!

if we are willing to part with mcnabb's used jockstrap....

i would like to see a conditional pick thrown in there(ala lito sheppard.)

Easy 2nd and 6th pick

LJ is still that 1000 yard back and him side by side with westbrook would make us the best backfield in the league. That is 2 probowl running backs on the same team. Could us eagle fans only imagine 2000 yards rushing and mcnabb throwing for another 4000 and then tradeup and grab crabtree bye giving up another 2nd and a first crazy thing can happen and I think its time for the people in philly to make it happen
