DE Sidbury to visit Eagles

Sidbury_medium

Anyone heard of DE Lawrence Sidbury Jr. out of the University of Richmond? According to the NFL.com Pro Day blogs, he has been scouted by representatives from 31 teams and is scheduled to visit Philadelphia (among other teams) sometime in the near future. I checked out his combine stats and the guy runs a 4.64 40 - the fastest time among defensive linemen. Draft experts are projecting him to be a 2nd-4th round pick.

I've had several chances to see Sidbury in action on both his Pro Day and during the NCAA Div I AA National Championships. The guy is a leader, a phenomenal pass-rusher and a sack machine. He had 4 sacks in the championship game alone, causing Richmond to beat Montana 24-7 and win their first-ever national championship.

Granted, he's a bit small at 6'2" and 266 lbs, but since when has size been an issue for the Eagles DEs? (see: Parker, Clemons, and B. Smith)

So what do you think? This guy good enough to wear midnight green?

Hah

And as far as there is no need for depth at DE, don’t you think Smith could use a challenge?

if he was 240, i’d say it was a lock

266 isn’t all that undersized for a DE. If he’s 266 in college, he’ll be up to 275 or 280 in his NFL career. That’s typical size for a DE in the NFL.

Jevon Kearse was like 240 2 years ago.

after thinking about this we could use him and the only reason i say is his 40 time and our need for special teams contribution

40 Time: 4.53 40 Low: 4.47 40 High: 4.64

and as an added point for me to agree as outtake has said smith could use some motivation …

Here's some tape on him...

Looks like a player, although the OT that’s he’s beating like a rented mule looks like he couldn’t block ME.

if their looking for an undersized DE

look no further then Nick Reed out of Oregon. 6-2, 245 with a 4.67 forty. not impressive numbers but dude was one of the top sackers in the nation the last few years and has an insane motor(but im a little biased)
