The Eagles have announced that they've signed safety Sean Jones to a one year deal.
After having two big seasons in 2006 and 2007, Jones likely thought he'd be fielding big offers this offseason. But after a injury plauged 2008 it doesn't appear that he found the market he expected. It's likely that he signed a one year deal with the Eagles as a chance to prove himself on a high profile team. Of course, I'm just speculating here.
The Eagles obviously get a solid veteran safety to help mitigate the loss of Brian Dawkins.
"It feels great," Jones said at the press conference. "Philly has great tradition here. The fans demand the team to win and I’m very excited to be here and be a part of this organization. I want to thank coach (Andy) Reid for giving me the opportunity to come and showcase my talent.”
" I like to come down in the box and hit you," Jones said. "At the same time, I’m a ballhawk. I am going to try to implement both of those parts of my game here."
