Saints release FB Mike Karney.
Karney has been a terrific lead blocker for New Orleans, maybe one of the best in the league at some point. Also a good short-yardage guy for them at the goal line as well. I think he would be a decent pickup for us. Dude's a total bulldozer. He's only 27, and I think would fill the need nicely.
Thoughts? The fullback we need? Not so much? Interested in your input.

Some info about him:
His main strength is clearly his blocking, but I like that he can take it to the endzone every now and then.

Nice
But if we’re not interested in Weaver, who fits into our system more than a guy like Karney does, then I don’t see it. Who knows what they’re thinking with FB. Maybe Eckel?
Hands
I know he can block and run….How are his hands. That is an important asset an Eagles FB must have. Good hands.

Everyone on the Eagles offense has to have good hands, even our O-line lol

Plan B
Use one our of 5th’s on Tony Fiammetta from ’Cuse.
And hopefully he turns out better than the others who have passed through here.

I like Brannon Southerland out of Georgia Tech, if we were to draft someone. Best FB this year, in my opinion.
I think you mean Georgia
Though having gone to Cuse and watching Fiammetta in action I have to agree with andy here. He was underutilized constantly. He is a pretty good blocker, a good runner and has great hands. But Greg Robinson managed to cause good players to disappear somehow. Remember Tanard Jackson? He is a solid starting CB (game-breaking at times) but TB didn’t draft him until the 6th round or something. I knew he would be good all along though because I loved him when he played on Saturdays.
