Take Leonhard off your list
Sources: Jets, Leonhard agree to deal
So now it seems Leonhard is a no go which I can't say I'm surprised. If I had the chance to play for my old D Coordinator I would. It doesn't sound like anyone had a chance at him. There were reports that he walked away without a deal my guess was to sleep on it.

Hmm
Can’t blame him for wanting to stay with Rex.
There’s still some names out there: Phillips, Sean Jones, etc. I can’t imagine us drafting two safeties so I assume someone else is coming via free agency or trade.
Sean Jones

14 INTs in 3 years. Surprised this guy isn’t getting more attention.
yeah that one slid past me… when i get home tonight i’m gonna see what i can find on this guy… gotta be some reason he’s not getting more attention

nevermind… pass.
He is a far better run-support player than in coverage and remains a bit of a liability in deep patrol or in a Cover 2 situation. He is agile and fast enough to handle these responsibilities reasonably well, but is slow to diagnose, doesn’t find or track the ball well and seems to be less and less comfortable the further from the line of scrimmage he is.

garbage espn FA tracker… ugh i looked at espn… but this is a pretty straight forward analysis… even they shouldn’t screw that up. again, i’ll check it out a bit when i get home, but doesn’t sound good

another SS … what sucks is that there isn’t much at SS and even less at FS in Free Agenct now. So do you pick up a vet SS and move him or Mikell over. Or Mikell and Demps are the starters pick up a vet as backup meaning if someone goes down he takes over either FS or SS and then draft another Safety.
Looks like we’ll find out pretty soon.
"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
ummm i’m all for picking up a solid SS, drafting a FS, and giving Demps the keys to the car for now… if he goes down, Mikell moves over and the vet SS steps in… or if the drafted FS turns out to be a phenom, he can step right up. I think at this point, the best course of action is sticking with the player who has experience in the system; given what’s available

Hmm
What’s the deal with Jermaine Phillips too? I haven’t heard his name associated with anyone yet I consistently see him on the list of best safeties available via free agency.
dunno… for someone who’s on the best of list, he’s being avoided like the plague… maybe they all know something we don’t.
