Lito Sheppard and Sean Considine were big contributors to the Eagles defense last season? What game were they watching.

OK, but any of you anti WR people out there, please note that ALL three of them at least mentioned the need for a WR. Dilfer says Crabtree, Mortenson says Boldin and Crabtree and Kiper at least mentions the WR position. WE NEED A #1 WR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what we really NEED is a TE and a RB as i see it! I´m fine with our WR corps!

We need the draft to get here at least. That should fuel discussions for at least a few weeks if not longer.

I’m more worried about the eagles moving out of the first round than moving up. I can’t see them spending the high draft pick money….

I hate sports analysts. Why do they talk about stuff they don’t know about? Drives me NUTS.
by Clyde Simmons on Mar 27, 2009 11:38 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Agreed. They have a vague understanding of every team, but not a true understanding of any single one.

i mean you can't really blame them
i think most can agree that keeping up with the philly sports is a full time job. imagine doing the research that we do with 32 other teams. it’d be pretty tough. i do wish, however, they had analysts for every division. people who can really dig deep into the teams.

I only agree with Dilfer in that
I believe were trading way high up for our new LT but that is all
by homestar2281 on Mar 27, 2009 11:44 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
This is always a possibility, but I really hope we find an LT internally to fill that roster spot. This frees us up to really go on a shopping spree come draft day. Something tells me we will only be using one of our first rounders though.

That would be convinient
but I would only want that if it were Herremans or King Dunlap(but I just don’t think he is ready yet) if it were Shawn Andrews I would be sad to see “The Great Wall of Philadelphia” get broken up :(

Not to mention ...
… the reason he fell (supposedly) was a poor senior year brought on being out of shape. I thought I remember him being compared to Shawn Andrews in this regard, in since the Birds have had success re-shaping Andrews and Jean-Gilles from “out-of-shape” OLs with talent to guys who can play in this league, they took a 3rd shot at it.

The fact it is not a need makes it less appealing. We’d have to give up to first rounders, maybe more picks later (which we could use on our needs on) to get him. If we do come away with a 1st round WR, I’d rather have someone like Nicks at 28, and be able to use 21 on someone like Knowshon.
And I don’t definitely don’t buy Crabtree as a “sure thing”

I saw him play, but Mike Leach is a man. He draws up passing schemes like no other, isolating one on one match ups a lot.
I did have a lot of faith in Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson coming out in the draft, but that’s about it.
Not saying Crabtree isn’t good, but I guess I want to feel safer about a WR if they Eagles are going to give up a lot to go get him.

I am trying to figure out why everybody thinks we lost something in Lito and now I guess Considine? Do they realize that Lito was our 4th CB last year? and if Ikegwuonu was healthy last year I wouldn’t have been surprised if Lito was the fifth CB. Although if Ikegwuonu didn’t mess up his knee we probably wouldn’t have drafted him since he would have went a lot higher.

0-2 Without T.O.
I remember being at an airport the week before the Eagles’ first playoff game vs the Vikes in 2004, and on SportsCenter they were talking about how the Vikes were going to win because in the 2 final regular season games, Terrell Owens was out with an injury, and the Eagles went 0-2 in those games.
FAILING TO MENTION, of course, that the birds were 13-1 going into those last 2 games had home-field wrapped up, and they played their JV team those final 2 games.
It’s these same knuckleheads that are basically putting no effort whatsoever in determining the Eagles team needs in that video.
Lito Sheppard… Sean Considine?!?!? Big contributors?!? If either of those 2 guys played 20% of the defensive snaps this past year, I’d be shocked.
You’d think that if they’re going to devote an entire running segment called “On the Clock” devoted to team draft needs, they might actually ask the opinion of a Philly-area beat writer or something, instead of just throwing it to an “expert” that maybe saw 3 or 4 Eagles games all season.
ESPN’s credibility is so far beyond gone, it’s ridiculous. And I used to love ESPN. But now it’s it’s like US Magazine for guys. Whenever they start talking about the Eagles, I try to convince myself to change the channel because whatever they say is only going to piss me off… Then I wind up watching anyway.
by Bye, Dawk :( on Mar 27, 2009 12:35 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I stopped watching
about three or four years ago (except when an actual game is on) for the reasons stated above.
I don’t know that they’re that bad in all sports, but their football coverage is very lowest-common-denominator-driven. Whatever is the simplest, most controversial storyline … that seems to be the one their on despite the drawing power to have really insightful people on air and to go deeper into stories.
NFL Network and even PFT’s analysis tends to be a lot more informative.

I don’t know if he mailed it in or what, but it was kind of sad to see.
