Brent Celek -young and talented Tight end

Celek's play has given the Eagles something to think about during the off-season

I must say iam a big fan of  Brent Celek ,hes young ,he will only get better .
He's big and came to the NFL with a reputation as a good blocker, ,Because the Eagles franchised Smith, Celek  did not see as much playing time as he should have , remember his name he has a good shot to start , but this is my opinion -not internet rumors

drafted  in 2007 - 5th round (25th pick) by the Philadelphia Eagles

Height-6-4 weight-255  age 24

 remember the Arizona game ?

. He was in the middle of a stirring Eagles comeback from a 24-6 halftime deficit.  His two TDs came little more than three minutes apart and pulled the Eagles to 24-19.

Photobucket

Tight end Brent Celek leaps over Cardinals linebacker Gerald Hayes. Celek caught 10 passes, a team playoff record, for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Celek showed that he could be a big-game player in the postseason. Aside from his two TD grabs against the Cardinals.he also caught a touchdown pass against the Giants,  In the wild-card win over Minnesota, he pulled down six passes for 56 yards  sounds good to me - your thoughts

I like him

but he needs to work on his blocking. This is not a knock on Celek, but I’d like for us to draft Pettigrew. We have the picks, and we need depth at the position.

+1

but for me it is a knock, we need a blocking TE, hence Chicago game as the glaring reason, when the guy that stopped Buck was the TEs responsibility so if he learns to block good for him im sure he’ll be decent but unless he can learn to block i think hes the next LJSmith

Magnum P.I.

Celek is a clutch performer. Simple as that. Even if we get Pettigrew, I’m going to presume Celek the starting TE. He really is THAT good.

Hes not THAT good ? ?

Celek caught 10 passes, a team playoff record ha ha whatever your crazy way better than L.J
whether you like it or not he will be around for a while

When I look at this team, I still don't feel as though we are very far away, we still have to work hard and do the things we are capable of, but we do have the chance to get back and come back strong." -Brian Westbrook-

we have Matt Schobel whats your opinion of him ? i think hes mediocre at best
i do agree we need a TE but do you think one from the draft , or a veteran to plug in there and if not gonzo than who ?

Every Reciever will have a good game

granted his was in the playoffs so it stands out more but 1 game doesnt make u “around fro a while” or that good

I definitely think Celek will improve this year. I would think someone would be more motivated when they know they are starting rather than playing back up. He was also coming off a shoulder injury last year so he has a better off season to work on his blocking skills.

"If they end up 2-14 and both of those wins came against Dallas, that's a pretty good year."

Lets just...

Get Pettigrew and work with both guys. I can think of tons of situations where having two solid TE’s on the field would be great(REDZONE)

Jesus where’s whodie in this thread?

haha

I’m around … I figured everyone knows how I feel about this kid so I was going to wait and see what others said.

Celek is a stud and will be a great performer for us. His blocking is suspect but as a receiver he can be a top 3 TE.

I think we pick up a TE in the draft we definitely need some depth. Of course Celek isn’t great right now but when starting he has proved he is more then capable. Give the kid a chance shit he is coming into his 3rd year in the league …
