Beanie pro day review
Ohio State's Wells made up for an underwhelming combine performance by putting on a show for scouts in Columbus. It was the type of workout NFL brass have come to expect from a premier talent at his position, particularly after the shows put on by the likes of Adrian Peterson and Darren McFadden the past two years. Wells stood by many of his jumping and shuttle numbers from Indianapolis but significantly improved his 40 time in Indy (4.59 seconds) by running a pair in the sub-4.45 range. Just as impressive were his hands during pass-catching drills; this eases concerns regarding his inexperience in the passing game (only 15 receptions in three seasons at Ohio State).
Wells can rest easy knowing he showed NFL teams what he's made of physically. It's safe to say that if Wells falls out of the first half of the first round, it will be due almost entirely to concerns regarding his mental toughness and durability.
McShay pro day recap for Beanie and others
The question is does his apparent pass catching ability change anyone's mind or is it still knowshon! Knowshon!! KNOWSHON!!! all the way?
Personally I still want Knowshon if we go rb early.

I’m still a Knowshon guy… but I like Wells. I worry about his receiving. Like it or not, backs have to catch the ball in this offense.

Not only catch the ball but blitz protect and run the screen very well. A much success as this team has taking backs in the later rounds, RB is a too much of a pressing need to risk taking a chance on later round picks when we have no back-up to Westbrook.
With exception to Mahe, Tapeh (even though he was a FB) and Booker of course, but I’m not closing the door on Booker yet because we haven’t seen him enough.
Al that being said, I’m shooting for Knowshon too.

I agree, Knowhson just strikes me as a good pure runner. the type of guy that doesnt necessarily have one glaring skill, he just knows how to pick up yards.
The fact that Wells didnt drop any passes in his pro day doesnt mean much about his pass catching ability. theres a whole lot more to playing in a pass happy offense than just catching the ball. you have to be able to run crisp routes and pass protect. Wells did not have to do either in that neanderthal offense of OSU’s.
i really do hope the Eagles go RB in the first round. I know you can grab a good back in the middle rounds but those players are usually projects that need a season or two before they can really contribute. Running backs with first round talent can generally step in right away. we have a glaring need at running back, it would ease my mind a lot if it was filled by someone who could contribute right away.

Can't explain why
But I just have a bad feeling about Wells and don’t want us to take him.

wells
might be a compliment to westy but he’s not an heir apparent…..knowshon can be his twin for some rest, and eventually take over the tailback spot for us….the only question is if he’ll get down to 21…thats hard to predict, a lot of people have him getting down to us and a lot of mocks don’t. i know i won’t be the only crossing my fingers come draft day.
"Eagles fans are a passionate group who love their team," said McNabb, "if not the actual players. It's not like winning a Super Bowl before the first month of the season is the hardest thing they've ever asked of me. That'd be all those times they asked me to go kill myself."
