Kiper/McShay mocks updated today.
21.
Kiper pick: Donald Brown, RB, Connecticut -- Brown could end up being one of the more productive rookie backs in 2009 because of his all-around skills and tremendous character.
McShay pick: Moreno -- Wells would be a better complement to Brian Westbrook in the short term but Moreno's versatility makes him a better fit to ultimately succeed Westbrook in the Eagles' pass-happy system. In the meantime, Moreno is fully capable of taking some of the load off Westbrook's shoulders.
28.
Kiper pick: Oher -- Oher is one of the more intriguing prospects in the draft. He's loaded with talent and can dominate the defensivehe's working against, but he also seems to have lapses in concentration when he struggles to keep his opponent at bay.
McShay pick: Eben Britton, OT, Arizona -- Britton has surprisingly quick feet for his size (6-foot-6, 309 pounds) and could ultimately develop into a better option than Winston Justice at the left tackle position vacated by Tre Thomas, who signed with the Jaguars.
Kiper had Knowshon going to the Saints at 14 which puzzles me since they have Bush and Thomas.
I know you shouldn't get attached to a player you aren't guaranteed to get but I REALLY want Knowshon and Pettigrew.
I know people have been posting mocks all the time and rumors but I didn't know if most people on this board had access to espn insider, so i wanted to put it up. Sorry if this becomes the Department of Redundacy Department.

Both have us taking RB first and T second. Sounds just about right.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Pettigrew at 28. But his stock is rising and he should go before 21 anyway.
City of Champions!
Kiper...
Has Pettigrew going to Buff at 11. Seems a bit high but I guess if they love what he brings it’s possible they pull the trigger or trade down a bit to get him before the Eagles.

his stock is actually falling
he ran a 4.8 40 at the combine that will scare many teams away, and almost definitely out of the top 20

Complete guess...
These guys usually have no inside information…they are speculating just as we are…“what would I do if I was the Eagles?”…
We probably have a better pulse on what the Eagles will do since we follow them daily and know their tendencies probably as good or better than these guys…
nice post
I don’t have access to ESPN Insider so seeing what they think is nice…..even if it is only really a guess.
CBSSportsline mock drafts ...
… I just came by to post these, and in the interest of not cluttering up the board, did not give them their own special thread.
Both of the No 21s makes sense and both of the No. 28s are kinda WTFs.
Pete Prisco has the Birds taking Oher and Sean Smith, a hybrid CB/S from Utah.
Clark Judge says Pettigrew and some center whose name I’ve forgotten in the time it took to toggle from there to here.
these guys are the smartest but...
i think the second one is more how the eagles could go. I think if they took a guy like mack they could have the line setup
LT S. Andrews/T. Herremans
LG J. Jackson/A. Mack
C A. Mack/J. Jackson
RG J. Jackson/S. Andrews
RT S. Andrews
would be a solid line and w/ the addition of Pettigrew and a RB to split time w/ westy, i would like to see either Knowshon, Beanie, or Donald Brown, could be a beast draft but we will have to wait and see, April is coming.
Why does everybody...
Like Pettigrew so much? As far as I’m concerned, a big blocking TE is something that can be found fairly easily outside of the first round. If we want a “weapon” at TE, then we should wait for Jermaine Gresham out of Oklahoma. He is a much faster, better receiver than Pettigrew could ever be, and he does a great job adjusting to the ball in the air. THAT is a red-zone target. We just can’t get him this year, because he’s not coming out ’til 2010. Regardless, why waste a first round pick on Pettigrew when we could pick up a left tackle (universally thought to be a much more vital position than TE)
Well
there’s a couple of things to consider:
1. if the Eagles think Herremans or Shawn andrews is a long term answer at LT, because if they do then theyll pick a tackle at a later point in the draft. Andy is typically good with morphing late picks or even undrafted talent on the line (Jamaal Jackson).
2. Pettigrew is being ranked so high because he’s big, he can block, and he can catch passes. He’s the complete package and couple probably contribute quickly.
3. If there’s a guy like pettigrew who can fill a need for our team and he’s available when we’re on the clock why wait and hope for a different guy a year down the road who you might not have a chance to realistically think about drafting?

because he is SLOW...
just like Brett Celek
He’ll be the exact same player as Celek last year. No different, except probably a better blocker. In any case, Pettigrew is not Kellen Winslow, Sr. and I don’t think that we should treat him as such on our draft boards. I’d say Leonard Pope is what you’d probably call a “big target” for the red zone (6-8, 256, the Cards nabbed him in the third round with a considerably better 40-time than Pettigrew), but he lacks anything that could pass for speed in the NFL. How many touchdowns did that translate into for the 2008 Cardinals, the most dominant regular-season passing attack?
0
In 13 games he had 9 receptions… 9.
I’d much rather risk waiting for a guy who makes plays that’s coming out next year than hitting the panic button and spending millions on a first-round TE that will have much less of an impact than another player might have
Besides Hopefully getting Knowshon
The Eagles may not get a big play maker necessarily, and Pettigrew is good because he’s a TE that we can use at any point in the game because he’s not only a receiver or only a blocker so you can’t predict what he’s going to do every time he’s on the field. We don’t really need the game breaker anyway right now. Look at our needs: Blocking TE, LT (depending on FO’s confidence in Herremans), FB/short yardage. Not exactly glamorous.

agreed.
most the top flight tight ends in the league didn’t come out of the first round. donald brown and michael oher in the first assuming we keep both picks. i’m with kiper on this one.
