From philadelphiaeagles.com -
The Philadelphia Eagles today announced they have signed safety Rashad Baker
to a one-year contract.
A product of Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, NJ, the 27-year-old Baker joins the Eagles after a two-year stint with the Oakland Raiders. In 2008, Baker recorded 24 tackles and a career-high three interceptions for the Raiders. He joined Oakland late in the 2007 season after playing eight games for the New England Patriots that year.

Warm body and competition… but hey it’s depth… i’m assuming we still grab a late round S though

I think we go 3rd round safety.
I think you get another Demps past the 3rd. You may even have to go 2nd round if you wants some Talent. I heard that they were looking at some kid that was supposed to go in the second round.
I hope that Jones plays well and we resign him during the year though.
This Baker cat is just a body thats gonna get cut anyway. I don’t expect him to contribute at all. This is Eagle to those Undrafted player signings we have every year. Kinda like Shaheer McBride.

Common, I was just speaking in General, did you get excited when they first
signed Quinten Mikell or Greg Lewis or Reno Mahe at first. No, because no body cared. Of course, sometimes they actually work out though. But still, nobody cares when they are signed.

i know what you mean
i agree, most of them pan out to be nothing big. just thought i’d throw in the “maybe he’ll work out better than hoped” like mikell did. I was just trying to make a boring signing a little more exciting, haha

I got you bro, I can see him being the next Rashard Cook.
What do you think of William Moore (Safety from Mizzou) is he good? is he a first rounder or second rounder?

Can he return kicks?

he was decent on special teams.
but that guy was a dreadful starter. everytime a ball was snapped i couldn’t take my eyes off him, becuase i knew he was about to fuck something up.

Nice
Spads also mentioned that he got an INT for the Raiders in the game against the Bucs. Gotta love that.

I should note...
that OAKLAND has a mediocre to poor pass defense last year, despite having arguably the best #1 CB in the league. Warm body might be the right word here.

I think he was behind Huff and Wilson on the depth chart there…

Obviously a depth move
i dont see him playing much at all pending a major injury
To me the Eagles are like that girlfriend that pisses u off, then u hate her, but the next morning you wake up and remember that thing u love so much about her

I agree about Depth & ST
… but I like even more that we now have enough safety depth to not be locked into picking one at any particular point in the draft.
Maybe they’ll grab one they like, but they aren’t desperate now.
Which means RB, TE, OL … well best player available, but hopefully at one of these positions.
Patience could be rewarded this offseason.
