does the signing of Matt Cassel to the chiefs mean the chiefs want to keep tony G so cassel has a consistent target to throw to?

probably
it means that the price just went up, because the chiefs can theoretically compete now. however, knowing the patriots way and gonzalez’s desire to leave, i bet at the right price (see kellen winslow’s deal) he could be had.
i wonder if cassel will be any good outside of NE….wes welker and randy moss can make anyone look good, and as much as i hate him, belicheck knows how to run the offense to his QB’s capabilities
But Pioli was in New England this whole time too ...
… I’m pretty sure he knows what he’s getting, and he hired a pretty creative offensive coach in Todd Haley who will likely be smart enough to play to Cassel’s strengths as well.
Maybe that’s why KC didn’t grossly overpay for Cassel, based on what a lot of people thought the Patriots could have got for him. Pioli knew he was getting a QB that can play, but also one who looks a lot better in the Patriots’ system than anyone else’s.
For the Pats to get a first-round talent at the top of the second and $15 mil in salary relief for next year is the type of unsexy move that winning front offices make.
I think it would be sweet if YOU broke your leg, lost your job and caught a rare disease. Dislike the man for being great at his job, but dont disrespect the person that he is.
