Free Agency Day Two: It's Always Darkest Before The Dawn
It's the dawn of a new day my friends, both figuratively and literally. Free agency kicked off yesterday, so let's get a little recap of what we can confirm right now:
- Sean Considine has reportedly agreed to a 2 year, $3M deal with Jacksonville.
- Correll Buckhalter has reportedly agreed to a 4 year (monetary figures unknown) deal with Denver.
- Lito Sheppard has been dealt to the Jets for a 2009 5th round draft pick and a conditional pick in 2010 (possibly as high as a 2nd).
- Stacy Andrews has been visiting with the Eagles and reportedly will sign a 4 year, $28M deal today. He meets with the press at 11:30EST.
- Finally, Brian Dawkins flew to Denver yesterday. He has reportedly agreed in principal to a deal with Denver, but nothing has been signed yet.
As far as BGN is concerned, we were highly trafficked yesterday and the Brian Dawkins thread hit almost 600 comments. That's a lot for a non game day thread. So join us today again, and we will try to keep you all in the loop on the breaking announcements. It's been an interesting twenty-four hours, to say the least. I know some of you are upset at how things are panning out so far, but like the title says, it's always darkest before the dawn. It's still early, my friends, and more activity is sure to come. Go Birds!
Feel free to use this thread to discuss free agency in general until something else breaks.

the jags are desperate
look what they paid porter and florence
We need a heart to live.... Resign Dawkins, the heart of the Philadelphia Eagles!
- considine was more a special team signing and as a backup safey. $3 mil for 2 years is not that much…
- i’m a bit surprised by the cbuck signing by denver. 4 years for a player with two bad knees that can’t block well isn’t someone you wanna build your team around imo
- i’m rooting for lito to have a monster year next year so that we can get the 2nd round pick
- stacy andrews is a signing to keep his young brother in check and if recovers from his knee injury by start of camp, it’s bonus
- bdawk… well

Not to sound like a homer
But I think CBuck is a fine RB to build around. He does nothing but produce on the field.
He’s the perfect guy to lead the molding of younger backs like Arrington and Torain.

personly i feel something special is about to happen
we all know how the eagles FO like to trade away our First round picks.
well i have a feeling(maybe just wishful thinking) that in light of them not showing interest in TJ and not paying enough attention to our own Big FAs I see a possibility of them trying to work out a trade for either Boldin or Edwards. Edwards is obviously more realistic but i do see a trade in our future
Im sick of the ‘Eagles always trade away our first round picks" BS. Andy is agressive on draft day and isn’t scared to make deals. He trades to where he feels the player he likes should be picked. If the Eagles were to trade down for an extra second round pick this year, I think it would actually be a great deal. There is a TON of talent in the 2nd round this year, and I don’t think the talent at the end of the first is all that better.
I, however, will be pissed if we trade a 1st a 3rd and a 6th rounder for Boldin.

Losing Dawk hurts from an emotional standpoint, but I’m not sure it’s a terrible thing from a football perspective. The Birds front office has always had the knack for cutting guys loose right before they outlive their usefulness, and while it might be heresy, Dawk’s on the way down. Dunno if Demps is the guy, but they’ve always retooled well on the defensive side of the ball… no comment on the offensive side.
Non Game day thread...
600=A lot? Probably more like the most ever for a non game day thread!
E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES
TJ Housh
Also, fuck TJ Housh. I’m glad to see the Eagles don’t want anything to do with him, even if ESPN says he’s still on their wishlist. He’s the definition of a guy who is above average in all aspects but not good at one thing. He made a living being Ocho Cinco’s number 2. He’s not a burner, he’s not a big tall strong possession receiver, he’s not a red zone threat. He’s just the fastest runner in the room full of sumo wrestlers that is this year’s FA options at receiver.
Didnt TJ say after the bengals lost like 8 games last year that they should just give up and try and get a better draft pick?
"If they end up 2-14 and both of those wins came against Dallas, that's a pretty good year."
