Haynesworth signs with Redskins for $100 million

ESPN is reporting that the Redskins have made the first major splash of free agency signing DT Albert Haynesworth on a 7 year, $100 million with $41 million in guarantees.

$32 million is guaranteed in the first 13 months of the deal.

Right around midnight, the Redskins kept CB DeAngelo Hall with a $54 million contract with $30 million set to paid out in the first 3 years.

The Redskins came into free agency with the 5th lowest available cap space in NFL with around $8 million.

I don't get this...

8 – 100 – 54 = -146

Here’s to Fat Albert eating his way out of his contract. And DeAngelo turning into the Raiders version once again.

i don't get it

how they were at the bottom in cap space and made these signs is unreal to me.
madden 2009 wouldn’t even let me make these pick ups….with salary cap off!

skins spent waaaaaaaaay too much money. don’t get me wrong. he’s a dominant force, there’s no arguing that.
but jeez.

4th and 26!!!!

Snyder

I am not worried about this signing at all. The Redskins are never a real threat to win anything and the way that Dan Snyder assembles his team is akin to that of a poorly drafted fantasy football team (see Taylor, Jason; Randle El, Antwan). Both of these guys are not the best teammates one can have and I don’t see motivation being a factor with Haynesworth anymore. In short, good for them, whatever, but it will probably not work and will be another fail feather in Dan Snyder’s cap.
