Brown and Pick for Holt?
I read that on the PE.com rumor mill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4. Eagles To Deal Brown For Holt And A Draft Pick
Howard Balzer of InsideSTL.com reports that the Eagles and the Rams could come together on a deal that sends veteran wide receiver Torry Holt and a draft pick to the Eagles for wide receiver Reggie Brown!
I would welcome that deal! I like Torry Holt!
If i´m right Holt is also 31 like Housh!

i think Housh would be a better fit,

seriously, everyone needs to drop the reggie brown stuff… if he do anything with him, we get crushed with his accelerated cap hit. i don’t have the figure off hand and it’s too early to look for it, but i think it’s to the tune of $6M. they’re going to just wave byebye to that kinda money to ditch Brown? i think not
"I tried to run him over but Eli had his big boy pads on and he kind of stopped me from getting in the end zone. The next time I’ll try to jump over his head.’’ - Asante Samuel
yep, you're right
it’s 5.8m if we cut him. that’s 3rd highest on the team, following BWest and Cole.

I did read that same rumor today, It sounds to good to be true, Tori must be DONE
Why would you trade Holt and a pick for Brown, that means Holt isn’t even an even trade for brown. Wow, he must be finished.
I guess we would sign other DONE players like McCallister and Galloway and Brooks. Holt isn’t the Answer.
Can we get Andre Johnson though, Houston has been really quiet and he was making noise last year about wanting to go.

the rumor
would see an even trade, or else picks going from the eagles to the rams. No one wants Reggie Brown bad enough for even a second rounder, let alone a second rounder and a player.

the deal is for holt for brown and a pick
we would give up a draft pick and reggie for torry holt. i say hold out for now. can we get boldin? dont pull the trigger on a backup plan when the real deal could still happen. maybe it’s just pipe dreams, but after signing stacey andrews, maybe one of our firsts is a bit more expendable…

I agree, I don't know if we draft Tackle now
Don’t tell me we draft SAFETY, and Dawkins is done!

Really?
Besides the salary cap hit by getting rid of Brown, is an old WR way past his prime really what we need? I mean come on. I hope there is no validity to this. Although Housh is older, too, I still feel like he has more to offer. And if we’re gonna trade Brown and take a cap hit, why not make an aggressive push for Boldin instead?
I agree
Holt seemed worn down the last year….maybe it’s b/c he was on a bad team, I don’t know, but picking up Torry Holt doesn’t seem as attractive as it once was.

surprisingly...
I think Holt’s the real deal. He’s 32, and wouldn’t have more than a year or two of production, but he’s had over 1000 yds/yr every year of his career except his rookie, and last year (when their OLine SUCKED!!!!!) 6 years in a row over 90 receptions, 2 years over 100 receptions.
Lets compare with TJ Housh who’s only 1 year younger!
2008
TJ: 15 games; 92 rec; 904 yds; 4 TDs
Holt: 14 games; 64 rec; 796 yds; 3 TDs
2007
TJ: 15 games; 112 rec; 1143 yds; 12TDs
Holt: 16 games; 93 rec; 1189 yds; 7TDs
2006
TJ: 13 games; 90 rec; 1081 yds; 9TDs
Holt: 16 games; 93 rec; 1188 yds; 10 TDs
All I’m saying is these guys are not dissimilar. They’re almost equivalents…VERY similar production year in and year out…and keep in mind that Holt really was the #1 for the Rams…he didn’t have Ocho Cinco pulling coverage off of him. This might not be bad!

He'll be 33 before the start of the season...
I wouldn’t mind Torry Holt a bit…a 33 yr old Torry Holt is better than a 28 yr old Reggie Brown…Plus based on THIS rumor it doesn’t preclude us from getting Boldin or Housh or Gonzo or Winslow depending on what draft pick is given up with Brown…hopefully not one of the 1st rounders…
Agreed...
I wouldn’t and don’t think they would either…thats why I think it would still leave us with a lot of options…
Yeah this is interesting
With all of the cap room we have we may be able to eat Brown’s cap number, especially if there isn’t much out there that we would spend on. It really does not appear that Brown is in the picture, so it’s dead money anyway you look at it.
I like Holt and think he could be effective in our offense for a couple of years. I think I’d rather sign TJ, but there’s no guarantee that’s happening at this point.
GREAT POINT!
i didnt even think of it like that. With Brown on our roster, but not playing then it’s dead money anyway. So traded, or staying…it’s dead. The only way to get value for his remaining prorated bonus is to all of a sudden turn him into a good player…probably not gonna happen.

I believe
it will only cost us around 2.8M more to move him vs. keeping him on the bench. Not much when you consider we have over 30M in cap room.
