Eagles have the third most cap space in the NFL
We are now 90 minutes from the start of free agency and it seems the Eagles are in a good position to do prety much whatever they want... NFL Network's Adam Schefter released his top 5/bottom 5 in terms of cap space and the Eagles are, as usual, at the top.
MOST
Tampa Bay — $61 million
Kansas City — $57 million
Philadelphia — $48 million
Denver — $37 million
Green Bay — $34 million
LEAST
Carolina — $1.9 million
New England — $3.2 million
Indianapolis — $6.6 million
Pittsburgh — $7.4 million
Washington — $8.1 million
Might as well spend it...

Here’s why I think the Eagles get Housh -
1) Andy Reid’s philosophy is you improve your team whenever possible. He knows that players like Houshmandzadeh never become free agents like this.
2) Housh turned in an impressive performance against us this year when we played the Bengals.
3) Just the fact that he seems to be a perfect fit for our system. He’s a sure-handed, possession guy who runs precise routes and gets first down. His presence on the field will make DeSean Jackson and Kevin Curtis ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to defend on every play. I can easily envision McNabb throwing for 4500 yards and 35 TDs if we got Housh and these guys stayed healthy.
At least that’s the way I see it. I dunno.

at the very least it will distract the fans for a while, and if things go wrong next year instead of saying “I need to do a better job of putting players in position” he can say “i told you dumbass fans we didn’t need another WR.”

can we even spend that much money in FA this year?
without lots of huge names on the market, i don’t think we can even reach that number, so i say spend away

Question
It’s not like we can just go completely crazy in spending right? I understand that the CBA’s future is in doubt and we might have an uncapped year in 2010, but if/when that gets straightened out we’ve still got a lot of young players (especially on defense) to sign long-term if we want to keep this group in tact. Right?

Now, I don’t do a whole lot of baseball watching/paying attention to anymore, but I’m watching ESPN now to see if there’s anything going on, and across the bottom of the screen, I see “Manny Ramirez rejects 2 year $45 million offer from Dodgers”. What kind of ****ing jackass has the audacity to say, “Thanks, but no thanks.” to $45 million? REALLY? God I hate baseball.
