Bengals don't want Housh!?!
First off let me say I have way more faith in our WR core after this past season but like everyone else I can't help but get excited about the addition of a true big time possession wideout. So I was more than happy to read this article on NFL.com about the current situation in Cincy.
Indications are that Cincinnati won’t be able to keep him off the open market, an NFL source said Thursday. Cincinnati, where Houshmandzadeh has spent his entire eight-year career, will try to sign him to a long-term deal before free agency starts Feb. 27. However, at this point, things do not appear promising.
Cincinnati could apply the franchise tag on Houshmandzadeh, 31, to restrict his ability to leave, but it does not appear they plan to do so. Franchising Houshmandzadeh would cost them $9.88 million against the 2009 salary cap. Houshmandzadeh also told the Dayton Daily News that he would boycott offseason workouts and be unhappy if the team designated him with the franchise tag.

Sounds like a good thing to me. Let's be honest with ourselves for a minute though, will the Eagles get either Housh or Q? Probably not. But the going rate for Q seems to be the equal to the Roy Williams deal last year and we know the Eagles won't match that. The Eagles could get Housh for just straight up cash money while at the same time holding onto all their stockpiled draft picks. OT, TE, pace changing RB?? No problem, you can get your big name WR and still find them in the draft.

I don’t think it’s the case that they don’t want him. I think that it’s more-so that he’s been a team player and kept quiet even when he wasn’t happy and is now flat out telling them that if they tag him, he’s going to be a problem. So imagine trying to run a team with him being disruptive and Johnson doing so as well…

Ya right now Im just trying not to get hyped about it. If February 27th comes and goes and no tag is place on Housh the Birds have to be in a good spot to make a bid. Housh even named the Eagles as a team he would like to play for. To me it would just make too much sense. Sign the big FA WR who has no character issues, draft your future OT and RB if they are on the board and go into next year with a core of veteran leadership and young talent. Oh ya and resign Dawkins.

to be fair, he pertty much said the same thing about every city he was in on his little hype tour… for god’s sake he even told the Chicago people that he liked Rex Grossman

FO
Unless of course Tom Heckert is right, and the Front Office isn’t even concerned with the Wideout position. While I think our guys are good, they aren’t great. A good running game might bring out the best in them, but I would love to have that true #1 that commanded a double team and allowed DJax and Curtis to go one on one.
I think there’s a better chance we sign Jordan Gross from Carolina than TJ, OT seems a bigger need and a bigger priority for the FO. Could we get both? I’d love to, but it’s just a $ scheme…we should resign Dawkins, (and if we keep either Thomas or Runyan, I have to say Thomas considering Runyan’s injury…if Andrews is good to go, and we sign Gross, then I’d be fine with letting both old tackles go)…and either trade Lito and sign Hanson, or keep them both and move Sheldon to safety (IMO)

Eagles aren't signing Houshmandzadeh
Not unless he comes real cheap and can play special teams. They just don’t need someone with his skill set. They need a game breaker, not a 2nd banana that posts 10-11 yards per catch.
I’m still not sure why Eagles fans are so fascinated by this guy. Everyone knows he’ll be 32 in September, right? This guy isn’t even close to elite, why so much interest?
The big interest is because the fans want a possession WR. You cant say there is one on the team right now. We want someone who fight through traffic for the tough catch. Someone who can get incidental contact on a 4th and 10 with the NFC Championship game on the line and still make the catch. I love what DeSean and Curtis bring to the table but I still want that hard fighting possession guy.

the eagles
we all know and try to pin point what the eagles head will do but their so Unpredictable that sometimes they do the complete opposite things that you would think they would do and as eagles fans -you know this to be true -
"My first and foremost goal is to win a Super Bowl. I also set goals in terms of having a type of year to make the Pro Bowl. If I'm going to the Pro Bowl, I know I'm making plays for the team." Brian Dawkins
Antonio Bryant!?!?!
He’s also unrestricted. He’s 27 years old, 6’1" (same height as TJ and Q) coming off an 80+ reception, 1200+yds season…15ypc avg with a 71T long. Every stat comparable or better than Anquan (except for TDs)…I’d take him over TJ in a heartbeat, and over Q b/c we wouldn’t have to trade. Why is no one talking about him?

I think Bryant gets the cold shoulder because of his temper tantrums in Dallas and San Fran. Threw his jersey at Parcells and some dumb talk in Frisco doesnt sound like the type of player Andy and Co. would bring onto the team. Cant deny he has skills though and his one handed fallin backwards the opposite direct grab was just nasty.
