Reports: Burress, Boldin, Johnson being shopped
Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for the troubled receiver, sent an e-mail to the NFL's teams earlier this week letting them know that Burress was one of his three clients who wants to be traded, an NFL executive told The Associated Press on Thursday. The person requested anonymity because the e-mail was supposed to remain private.
The Star-Ledger of Newark was the first to have the story, reporting in its Wednesday editions that Rosenhaus' initial e-mail to the teams said that Burress could be acquired through a trade.
However, the NFL executive who asked not to be identified because he had to deal with Rosenhaus, said the initial e-mail said that the agent had three "players DESIRING a trade."
The other two players are Anquan Boldin of the NFC champion Arizona Cardinals and Chad Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Arizona general manager Rod Graves did not return a telephone call left by The Associated Press at his office.
Giants general manager Jerry Reese refused to comment.
Rosenhaus did not return two telephone calls and an e-mail seeking comment.

I wouldn’t exactly say they’re being shopped. That’s what a club does when they’re interested in trading a player. This is an agent emailing all 32 teams with a list of players who don’t want to be where they’re currently at. I love how teams aren’t allowed to contact players currently under contract with another club, but agents are allowed to pull this.
BTW Gcobb is reporting that Rosenhaus has stated that it will take at least 4 picks to get Boldin… Insanity.

agreed ... shopped would be a term reserved for the team.
The Agent really has no say in the matter no matter what Rosendouche may think. 4 picks to get Boldin .. damn.

not to mention Boldin is set to make 2.75 mil next year and is signed for 2 more years … if I’m the Cards I’m keeping him, which is unfortunate for us.

but then they gotta worry about a holdout
and the riff it puts in the locker room
To me the Eagles are like that girlfriend that pisses u off, then u hate her, but the next morning you wake up and remember that thing u love so much about her

If I’m the Cards, I say, “fine hold out if you want…” then as soon as Boldin starts loosing a few hundred grand a week, I’m sure he shows up quick… then if he starts screwing off… slap him with conduct detrimental to the team, and go after all of his bonuses. We gave teams the blueprint on how to deal with these situations… Look what happened with Chad Johnson last yer. Simply wanting out and stomping yoru feet doesn’t do it.

no kidding … 2.75 million starts to get real small when you are getting fined 10 grand a day for holding out …

plus he would loose any workout bonuses and such that are built into his contract, which most players have anymore

What about the team tho...
Yea Chad Johnson came back but how did that work out for the Bengals? At least if you trade him you get something for him…especially since people are willing to give fair market value for him right now…they won’t get as much if they wait until next year going into the last year of his contract…and the following year he is a FA and they get nothing…

please don’t suggest that the bengal’s season was chad johnson’s fault. that entire team is about as useful as a one legged kicker.
and Boldin is a standup guy… he feels like he was wronged and wants out, but if they don’t trade him, he’ll more than likely not screw his teammates

Thats not what I was saying...
I was just saying sometimes your better off letting someone go that doesn’t want to be there than force them to play…I don’t think Boldin will screw his teammates at all but I don’t know about the team morale…you start to get locker room divides because some take his side and others are like suck it up and get over it…
Lance Briggs came back and was a stand up guy but the Bears defense just hasn’t been the same…
by PoppiDamus on Feb 13, 2009 11:40 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
yeah but i think the Bears defensive problems have more to do with the craziness/declining production of Urlacher and the multitude of injuries and legal issues that the unit as a whole has gone through. I understand your opinion and all, i just think you can’t generalize it to all players… in this case, i think they’d be fine if they stuck to their guns and he came back

Yea I see both sides...
If I thought they would make another SB run with him next year I would definitely keep him…
but no matter what happens I just don’t see Arizona being as good next year…actually see them being similar in the regular season but without the magical playoff run…they could use the picks right now with a few key defensive UFAs…
Maybe I’m just talking myself into thinking they’ll trade Boldin because I want him to come to the Eagles…

i do agree with you on their season next year… i think they suffer some free agent problems, maybe a Warner retirement, and i would have to be honest and say that i don’t see the offense reproducing the crazy passing stats next year

Rosendouche- ha ha + 1

BTW Gcobb is reporting that Rosenhaus has stated that it will take at least 4 picks to get Boldin
I read that article here and first let me say GCobb is an idiot, but he is right Rosendouche has no power when it comes to trades.
What really annoyed me was that Rosendouche didn’t even know what the trade for Roy Williams was yet he is using it as a basis for Boldin … he says
The wide receiver went from Detroit to the Dallas Cowboys and that compensation involved a first-round pick, third-round pick and sixth-round pick (and a seventh next year)
Which is false … Detroit received Dallas’s 1st, 3rd, and 6th this year and Dallas got Williams and a 7th rounder in 2010. So it was 3 picks for a player and a pick.
Sorry but that annoyed me.

gcobb
broke the randy moss trade story as well as the asante sameul trade. i’d say he’s got good sources within the organization. he’s actually played in the NFL, so he does have a basis for his opinions.
while he may be wrong sometimes, he is not an idiot (although some of the people who post over there are).

he did not break those stories, I could have broke the story on Asante everyone knew he was coming here. The Moss story I heard elsewhere before not to mention Cobb bashed Andy for not getting Moss when clearly the Eagles offered him a decent contract.
He is an idiot because he is the epitome of a Negadelphian and gives us all a bad rap like that moron Cataldi.

4 picks?
Wow. Okay, so let’s give them our two 5ths, 6th and 7th. Get the deal done!

Chad Ochocinco!!
If we can get Ochocinco for a 3rd round pick, I say we pull the trigger. I doubt the Bengals will be smart enough to make this trade, but I can always hope.
How on Earth can the Bengals justify in keeping him around? He hates the Bengals, the Bengals hate him. I mean, is this a Flyers-Lindros situation? Just trade the man! Let him do SOMETHING productive! They never throw Chad the ball and he’s (in my opinion) the top receiver in the game. Bengals need to get something productive out of him and we could use a guy that scares the hell out of defenses.

After the whole T.O. ordeal… No way this team even thinks about getting the player that is the poster child for disruption and ego.

I think Chad did himself a lot of good by shutting up and playing this season when he realized he wasn’t going to get traded. I think he set himself apart from TO by doing that. There is no way the Bengals trade Ocho Cinco and lost TJ to FA in the same year unless they are trying to become the new LA franchise.

What???
Did you just call Chad Johnson the best recevier in the game?? You must be related to him…
by PoppiDamus on Feb 13, 2009 11:07 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Chad Johnson is really good ...
in cybourgeoisie’s defense With the exception of this year and Chad’s rookie year he has been over 1100 yards and 5 TDs every year (6 out of 8).
From 2002-2006 Chad Johnson was in the top 6 WR all 5 years in a row (receiving yards) … the only WR to do that, Chad 5 times, the next closest was Holt w/ 3 times in the top 6 and then Boldin, Fitzgerald, Harrison, Moss, Wayne with 2 (yes I realize some of the players weren’t in the league for those years and counting this year gives Fitz 3)

He has been one of the top receivers but no way warrants the title of best receiver…i would bet money that if all the GMs in the league could pick one WR for next year, 0 out of 32 would pick Chad Johnson first…

0 out of 32 would pick Chad Johnson first…
I’m not so sure that is true … it’s also what have you done for me lately too. I believe most would say Larry Fitz, personally I think Andre Johnson is the best receiver in football. It’s all a matter of opinion. But I get your point.

Chad Johnson may not be the best recevier in the game, but would you play for a team that you told you had no desire to play for , anyhow his production level was down but is true he didnt want to be there and they basically said f*ck you do it anyhow
