Flozell Fined 50K

Looks like Flozell Adams has been fined $50,000 for his hit on Justin Tuck on the last play of the first half in last Sundays game. Usually the league notifies teams of suspensions on Tuesdays so they can plan for the upcoming game, and since the Cowboys were not notified of a suspension, Adams will most likely avoid a suspension.

Star-divide

There have been a lot of personal fouls against Adams this year, unnecessary roughness vs TB for a $5,000 fine and two personal fouls in week two against Tuck and Osi which only resulted in a total fine of $12,500. Week 3 also involved Adams kicking Julius Peppers for another $7,500 fine.

What baffles me is the league gives Adams a $50,000 fine for multiple penalties and Ochocinco gets $30,000 for wearing a sombero on the sidelines? Seriously? What has this league come to? Ochocino does do things to get attention but his antics aren't affecting players health or the play of the game.  I think this is totally uncalled for.

Here's my issue:  If they continue to review his penalties without making a decision before Sundays game it could directly affect us.  I'm not afraid of Adams because obviously he has to do these things to keep up with everyone else in the game, but at the same time I don't want him "tripping" one of our players when we are in a run for a play-off spot and division lead.

There is no room for people like Adams and his behavior in the NFL.

Completely off topic but....

I was going crazy here after I posted this and my Reid Fan shot, I tried posting one more thing as a fanshot and it wouldn’t let me and told me to try again later. I tried again later and got Banned! lol All is well now – after a couple hours and me contacting everyone on Gods green earth!

I agree with ByeDawk… Goodell has too much power. I feel like for these types of instances there should be a panel that discusses different violations and along with the fines gives an explanation.

I just think this whole thing is ludacris

Yeah, if your gonna fine them doing this, than you should be fining players that jump in the air and hit their backs against each other. Is it not celebrating with another player?

These Fines for Minor things are Ridiculous Who cares if a man wears a Poncho and sombero? or a Jason Mask? Its so petty……….Flozoll on the other hand should have been fined and Suspended!! He’s Such a coward shoving a man in the back while hes down!! But he will definatly get his

OK here is my problem here...

Flonzell Adams has been fined like 5 or 6 times.. 2 of them came on things he did to Tuck and this week he STARTED a fight.

Adams is nothing but a little bitch who is on the tail end of his career and cannot block Tuck so he resorts to cheap shots and tripping… Adams is nothing but a disgrace to Professional sports and should be SUSPENDED.. Got damn, we have 2 players crossing there arms and looking at each other and they get fined… TO stood in the middle of a field during a play and got suspended…

The NFL is filled with nothing but biased assholes who want to make money of fans who love the game. And there so pro fucking cowboys its not even funny..

I see how it works, Hanson takes a dieretic and gets 4 weeks suspension.. Adams starts a fight, and gets fined for cheap shots another 4-5 times and all he has to do is pay some chump change(by nfl standards) to Goodell..

thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro

by wild_eagle on Dec 9, 2009 3:18 PM EST reply actions

What else bothers me is: you got him intentionally tripping people and causing fights. What will it take for them to properly punish him? When someone SERIOUSLY gets hurt? When he stomps on someones helmet-less head like Haynesworth? Its ridiculous and I’m just praying he doesn’t get unleashed during the last game of the year when his frustration of another 44-6 sets in and he goes after everyone.

I think they need to allow 2 fines for unsportsmanlike conduct then the 3rd is a 1 game suspension then anything after that is 1 game…

If there gonna crack down, they need to crack down.

That's generally the good thing about facing Flozell Adams

He doesn’t give a shit. He hates Tuck specifically, but otherwise, he just doesn’t seem to care at all.

by cwel87 on Dec 9, 2009 5:39 PM EST up reply actions

Wow!

BD… you bring up some great examples. When you compare each of the violations above and fines associated compared to what Flozell did and what he was fined, it’s absolute horseshit. Goodell sucks ass. This makes me hate Goodell and the Cowboys even more than I already do… didn’t think the hate could’ve increased before I read this article… but… it has.

The Eagles are the first team in NFL history to have a running back and a wide receiver with 500 yards apiece in the same season before their 22nd birthdays.

Roy Williams and the horse collar tackle

He made the horse collar tackling technique what it is right now, a penalized techinque, he kept doing it, was fined twice and told that a third time would bring a fine and a suspension. He did it and was suspended. He hasn’t done it again.

That technique actually hurts players. Tripping and pushing, may cause some harm if the stars are aligned, for example, the Tuck tripping (DLineman and OLineman are falling all the time, most stand up nicely).

Brian Dawkins is known for helmet to helmet colisions, those also hurt players.

I’m in no way defending what Flozell did, pushing someone to the ground from his back is the way of cowards, regardless of him doing it right in front of the Eagles bench… But asking him to be burned because of this sounds a bit exaggerated…

Oh, and Timmy Mac 2 posted some nice pictures… And of the worst one that he found, I would like to know if Urlacher made money out of using that cap… Publicity stunts are heavily penalized, this is a well known fact.

Viva México! Go Cowboys!

Its not even the point

The point is… just like you said in regards to Williams:

He made the horse collar tackling technique what it is right now, a penalized techinque, he kept doing it, was fined twice and told that a third time would bring a fine and a suspension. He did it and was suspended. He hasn’t done it again.

After he was suspended he stopped doing it – OK. well maybe that will teach Flozell to stop this ridiculous, petty, harmful behavior. Period. He obviously doesn’t care about other players or your team for that matter by putting the Cowboys in a situation to possibly get suspended.

You should be just as mad as anyone else. Adams is a little bitch.

My guess is yes, Vitamin Water probably paid Urlacher to wear that hat. Regardless, it shows what Goodell is all about… $$$.

A player advertising a brand that isn’t paying the NFL? The NFL won’t have that.

A player with 3 prior fines on the season violently and cowardly attacking another player who has his back turned? Clearly not as big an offense.

There’s very little space for dignity in sports rivalries.

For example, your team had Jon Runyan for hundred of years… In the opinion of a lot of defensive players that guy was one of the dirtiest OLineman in the League. Of course, fans of the team in which he belongs turn a blind eye…

I think we all know by now..Goodell loves the Cowboys!

Except for the Pac-man thing…Goodell gives free passes to the Cowboys. Really, Flozell Adams, a repeat repeat Repeat offender! That’s a lot of second chances! Goodell can’t give any explanation to this becuz he’s making this up as he goes along. Late hit on Dmac this season in the endzone AFTER the TD signal was put up! No penalty, no fine, no suspension. Let alone the injury he suffered….what happened to PROTECTING the QBs! Oh but when a player falls on Bradys knees..they will flag and fine u. If they dont flag u the Commish will STILL fine u for that! Oh but let other QB’s in the league get hurt!! Goodell is indeed a phoney. He plays to the OWNERS in his biased thoughts for his fav teams! If Goodell was a MAN..he would do the right thing!

Goodell is doing whats best for himself, hes not protecting the QB or any other player for that matter. He will continually raise the fines on Chad Ochocino Johnson for his behavior and Chad eggs it on cause he thinks its also ridiculous. Chad is making a fool out of Goodell and instead of Goodell actually doing something right with his power… he just makes himslf look more like an ass.

There should be rules and fines set in place… without deviating from them no matter who the player is or what team.

I keep going back to the game where McNabb got hurt when a couple of players decided to jump on him after he finished running into the End Zone for a TD. No penalty, no resulting fine, nothing. Meanwhile, even the tiniest incidental contact with Brady will put you in a deep hole this season.

No consistency whatsoever.

That's what im sayn man!

It has nuttn to do with me being an Eagle Fan…If it where Hassleback, Rodgers, Josh Freemen, or Sanchez who got hit late on the play….it doesnt change the fact that it was WRONG and the league was VERY WRONG in not taking action. If u only protect Certain players then what does that say about the NFL!

The Panthers employed that strategy in the 2003 NFCCG

It worked. They got off scot-free on an incredibly late hit and cheap shot on McNabb.

And, out of frustration, they did it again in the opener. And anyone who says that wasn’t a late hit is full of shit.

by cwel87 on Dec 9, 2009 5:46 PM EST up reply actions

It absolutely was a late hit. That’s in Carolina’s playbook on how to “defend” against McNabb. Kinda like in the Cowboy’s playbook on Westbrook it says, “Grab facemask”.

If you guys can't figure out the fines you're retarded

a) Chad johnson has been fined 10k numerous times and he keeps up his antics KNOWING he’s going to get fined.

The same thing happened with clinton portis. He was getting fined 10k after each violation and finally they had to threaten suspension.

If you can’t figure out why Urlacher got fined so much FOR WEARING A NON NFL SPONSOR then you REALLY have pr oblems. He probablyh got more than 100k to wear that hat and the NFL can get in much more trouble if they allowed a non sponsor to get advertised like that. The official NFL sponsors are probably paying a LOT of money for advertisement why would they allow some other companty to advertise on their dime?

There was no b or c for your other points.

They threaten Flozell before with suspension and they aren’t following through with it… so they should just keep threatening him in hopes that one day he will stop? No. I don’t think so.

I get why Urlacher got fined. 100K… yeah he might of made that much for wearing it but when you are comparing that to injuring someone I think there is a difference.

It doesn't matter

Rules are rules and Johnson is WELL aware of them. He’s been fined how many times now? He does it for the attention and they were at one point only fining him 10k. If I were the NFL, I would’ve fined Urlacher more since he intentionally knew what he was doing and he probably pissed off every sponsor. In fact, whoever he advertised for probably picked up his tab anyway.

50K is a pretty large fine, how many did Runyan get when he mauled guys? I’m not saying he should’ve but big Jon used to crush guys when they were vulnerable. he should’ve been suspended but I don’t see why everyone is crying about it

No, they should be paying their money

And going further, they should be seeing suspensions…

But if in the end the NFL pulls something like that, any player that disregards the warnings and continues to do something that may in the end do harm to another player should receive a suspension, too.

We’re talking about helmet to helmet hits… How many of those fines Dawkins received?

We’re talking about chop blocks.

We’re talking about hitting receivers when they are in a defenseless position.

We’re talking about every personal foul in the book.

We’re talking about hitting QBs bellow the waist.

We’re talking about horse collar tackles.

Etc.

And in the end, every repeat offender would receive a suspension.

We’re talking about a lot of players… You just have to look at the list of fines in every week and you’ll see a lot of repeat offenders…

I’m sorry but I think most of these things happen in the play of a game when someone is just trying to make a play and get the guy on the ground… I don’t see these guys going out there and pulling a horse collar on a guy after the play is dead just to get his ass on the ground. I don’t understand how people don’t see the flipping difference. If someone like Urlacher is going in to tackle a RB and the RB tries to get small as Urlacher is going low and they have a helmet to helmet hit, I don’t consider that to be intentional… I’m talking about the OBVIOUS INTENTIONAL hits on someone. You don’t think that many of those guys meant what they did?

Hey, I remember once how Dawkins said that he was glad of paying up for one of his fines because he was proud of the hit…

Now, you can try to tell me how a trip or a push in the back CAN hurt a player worse than the things that I mentioned above, that was my point, Flo injured Tuck not because of the trip, but because of how Tuck fell on the turf. And a push on the back? Only the ego is hurt…

I’m not defending what Flo did, if it were me, I would certainly bench him and I would tell him that it’s his last year playing Football. Can I see the reasoning behind the Cowboys not benching him? Yeah. Can I see the Cowboys telling him that it’s his last year? Yeah, I don’t think that he’s going to play next year… He just pushed the need of a new LT from huge to urgent.
