Schefter: Philadelphia Eagles, Andy Reid on verge of extension

News broke today via Adam Schefter that the Eagles and head coach Andy Reid on the verge of announcing a contract extension.

Coach Andy Reid is on the verge of finalizing a long-term contract extension with the Eagles, the team he has coached since 1999, league sources said.

Reportedly, the announcement could come as early as this week.

Ironically, as Andy is on the verge of a new contract he entered some exclusive company. Reid won his 100th game this decade and became one of only four coaches to ever accomplish that feat.  The other three? Bill Belichick, Tom Landry, & Don Schula. Pretty good company.

Good

Great move, lets face it while we may bash him because he is so pass happy he is a fantastic coach, teacher and team builder and I’m happy that he is back, now… if he would just RUN THE DAMN BALL!

Long live the Andy Reid era, a Lombardi trophy is going to be here soon hopefully!

Great Great news

He’ll bring a championship to Philly soon.

And what’s funny about the people who wanted Cowher, is that him and Reid have nearly the exact same numbers at 10 years in: wins, losses, playoff appearances, playoff wins, championships, etc. So it makes no sense to fire Reid now.

who QB'd pittsburgh for those 10 years?

though the numbers may be similar, i’d contend there’s quite a big difference between how they got there.

mcnabb may be a good qb

but he’s far from ideal for Andy’s system

Good move

We have a good thing going here. Keep it rolling. I’m eager to see what the Andy Reid era is like post-McNabb (and I am in no rush to see it yet either).

In reality..What else can we do. Our hand are tied!!

What other choice to we have to get us over the hump right now! I really don’t want Reid here anymore..Im tired of the same old inconsistent problems season after season..Would I like to see a Change YES! But It’s not about me. It’s about Bringing home that Trophy! If Reid can bring us that Trophy soon then cool! Do I think he can do it! Ha, anythings possible! Reid gives us the best chance right now! Im not sayn Good move nor Bad move. It is what it is becuz there’s no other coach out there right now!! Eh o well. Go Birds

This is the bad part about watching the eagles stirng together some wins

We get who knows how many more seasons of this doofus. I’m guessing the incredibly stupid timeout utilization at the end of hte first half will be forgotten because they won the game.

I was thinkn that too! But again..what other choice do we have!

Imagine if we were on the losing end of the NFC! Would these contract talks be still happening!
But hey..anythings possible!

It stinks becuz I want to rejoice and say Good job!

I want to be happy. Honestly guys. I really do want to feel happy about this extension. But..Im not. Nothing about this is reassuring to me. Again, it is what it is and nothing more! We all saw this coming. I just want to move forward

I'm happy with this

It should be interesting to see what the extension is – this will determine what they think the future could hold for him and this team.

Andy Has His Flaws LikeAnyone Else

Bottomline Hes Strengths far outweigh his weakness!! He is defenitly a great coach! Now we Just Need to Reup Mcnabb Weaver and Avant and well be good to go!

Figured this was coming after a few wins . . .

Andy Reid has his faults but I never got the ‘Reid-haters’ in this town. Man has essentially this team playing at a high/very-high level over the past 10 years. Hell, this team essentially has entirely rebuilt their offense over the last 2 years and made a number of other key changes on defense.

Do I want a Super Bowl? Sure. I also appreciate what Reid and McNabb have done over the past 10+ years too.

An amazing achievement

Your level of success in the NFC this decade has been amazing and some of this has been due to the Redskins, Giants and Cowboys all being poor teams during some point in the decade at one point all at the same time.

However, you still need to win the games which he has done and this is to be applauded.

The Giants beating the Cowboys shakes up the division. Not sure how we will do it but if we can beat you on Sunday it will give the Giants the inside track to the division!

Not a good move

Unless he figures out running the ball is a good thing, and burning timeouts for meaningless issues in the 1st and 3rd quarters are not good things.
