Some good May come out Of That Blowout............

Hopefully the Redskins Have enough professional pride ( and personal incentives in their contracts in case they don’t) to actually show up and play hard and win against Dallas Thus making our RD to Divison Champions that much easier………..

Guess it kind of justifies all of the garbage the Skins fans were spewing out before the season started.

I was on here talking about how there’s no way the Redskins were a better team than us, and some Redskin fan came back at me with, “Sorry, but who took two from you last year? I’m sorry, but the Eagles are in for another beating from the Skins”.

Now all of that BS looks hilarious.

"Backs in the 'I'...First and 10...McNabb, play action. Is back again. He is looking..he is going deep. He wants DeSean Jackson..who HAS IT!!! HE HAS IT!!! AND STEPPED INTO THE ENDZONE!! He took it away from the defender!! He took it away from Dominique Rogers-Cromarte, and ran into the endzone!!"

Look Zorn was a terrible choice for a HC, he needs to work his way up like Reid and

others had to.. Snyder took a chance on him and it didnt pay off, who cares really, and you cant just go and fire a guy right now, its the holiday season(legitly thats the only good reason I could come up with)…

Also right now everyone on the Redskins payroll is pretty much competing for a job next year or there “trying out” for other teams, they will go balls out these last 2 weeks

it help us ALOT, expecially if its this week when they get another W.

Let’s hope Zorn and ALL of the players and coaches see this game as their Super Bowl and see that they need to fight for the jobs with a new sherriff (Bruce Allen) in town.

Go Skins!

The Eagles are the first team in NFL history to have a running back and a wide receiver with 500 yards apiece in the same season before their 22nd birthdays.

nitpick

When Reid worked his way up he skipped straight from QB coach to head coach without stopping at offensive coordinator along the way. At the time a lot of fans questioned (to put it gently) Lurie and Banner for taking a chance and hiring an unknown quantity in Reid.

So it’s not like these things never work out. It’s just that Snyder is the decision maker at Redskins headquarters. Too bad for Redskins fans their team owner is working on a full decade of mediocrity. In spite of Snyder/Cerrato, it looks like the team has some good players who did not quit, but they are without direction. Campbell and a few others deserve better. If Campbell had an O-line and consistent coaching he might be good.

I agree with wild_eagle, hopefully the Redskins will play for pride and their future jobs and take it to the Cowboys.

The Redskins are MUCH better than their record

I’d say Jason Campbell is in the top half of NFL guarterbacks. I mean, he’s got Stephon Heyer blocking his blindside for Christ’s sake. No offensive line, inconsistent receivers and running backs have hurt Campbell quite a bit.

They need to retool the offensive line. They have needs everywhere, but if they just get a franchise left tackle, they will at least be competitive next year.

by tanman5 on Dec 23, 2009 3:47 AM EST reply actions

I’d say Jason Campbell is in the top half of NFL quarterbacks.

That might be going a little far. I will agree that Campbell is not that bad. He can’t possibly succeed with that offensive line and while also having 4 different offensive coordinators in 5 years…. but he needs to prove it before he’s labeled a top-16 quarterback.

BTW… I felt bad for Campbell on Monday night… he was getting KILLED.

The Eagles are the first team in NFL history to have a running back and a wide receiver with 500 yards apiece in the same season before their 22nd birthdays.

Im sorry they are not better then their record shows. They had the easiest schedule literaly in history to start the season and they only went 2-4 in those games. There barely beat the Rams and the Bucs at home. Also, that defense which was supposed to be amazing has been lit up the last few weeks.

by eaglesinmd on Dec 23, 2009 11:48 AM EST up reply actions

They are what their record is ...

… I believe that, but I don’t think that team needs a total teardown and 3-year rebuild. They actually got a lot younger last offseason, and with a decent draft (maybe 10 picks where 5-6 make the roster) and a purge of a high-priced vets in favor of mid-level free agents, they could be a playoff team next year.

The defense is solid but not spectacular, and the offense has a serviceable quarterback, two good TEs, and depth at WR.

If they drafted two OL high, then brought in a few more to create competition, that would help. Also if they got their hands on a legit FS, then bumped Landry back to SS, that would improve their entire secondary. The rest of the team is truly okay enough to give them a chance to win week in and week out.

Until the Giants game, and maybe the Falcons game earlier, they really hadn’t been beaten handily in their 10 losses. They basically just can’t finish.

they need to rebuild through the draft, they've been rebuilding through high priced vets for

years now… Go through the draft.

by wild_eagle on Dec 23, 2009 6:04 PM EST up reply actions

Exactly

The reason they suck every year is because when the inevitable injury bug hits, there are no Nick Coles or Max Jean-Gilles’ or Omar Gaithers to step in.

I always say their starters match up with most, but they fade because they don’t spend wisely on rounding out their team. Players 23-53 aren’t up to where they’d be on a true playoff roster.

Two years ago they actually had a nice draft, which is starting to pay dividends. But I think they can challenge for a playoff spot next season if they draft linemen, then maybe add some competition via FA, and maybe add an FS via FA. And when I suggested a purge of high-priced vets, I meant something like trading Santana Moss for a pick, etc. … They’re on the hook for $7.2 mil of Portis’s deal, so I think they’re stuck with him.

The roster is actually not as completely devoid of talent as it would seem. 1-2 good drafts and a couple good FA signings and it’s got a shot.

Dude, no way. I do think he could be a viable starter in this league in the right situation, but no way he’s in the top 16 QBs

Desean Jackson... "If He's even, He's leavin"

by 700 Level on Dec 23, 2009 9:31 AM EST reply actions

If he is ...

… he’s down at 15 or 16, but it’s really hard to say since he never gets a chance behind his line and he hasn’t had a chance at continuity in an offense for several years. If I were a West Coast team, I might take Kolb over him based on experience in the offense, but Campbell has all the tools to be good. Can make all the throws, is mobile, is tough, stays positive when things are down.

My beef with him would be he gets shook … i.e. he knows the rush is coming and doesn’t step up and get rid of the ball, but double-pumps, holds it, takes sacks. Even really good “immobile” QBs step up in the pocket, let it fly and take their lick, or get rid of it quickly, as is the goal in the WCO.

I think he can be salvaged, but if his next career move is to the wrong team/situation, he’s David Carr.

I think Campbell is good.

he’s had to change O coordinators every year, he’s never had a good O-line…

I think with a stable team he could be good, he can run if needed and he’s got a pretty good arm..

thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro

by wild_eagle on Dec 23, 2009 6:05 PM EST up reply actions

Uh, someone name 16 QBs better than Campbell. He’s not a bad QB.

His offensive line is godawful and his only receiving threat is Santana Moss and Chris Cooley, and ever since Cooley has been hurt and the entire league realized Clinton Portis is done, all they need to do is cover Moss and the Redskins can’t do ANYTHING on offense.

16 QBs better than Campbell

In no particular order:
Manning
Brady
Rivers
McNabb
Roethlisberger
Warner
Rodgers
Favre
Brees
Romo
Palmer
Schaub
Hasselbeck
Manning (the other one)
Garrard
Pennington (yes, I know he’s on IR)

About 10 minutes ago, I was pondering my own existence. Then I decided that it didn't matter.

Your first 14 are strong ...

… Garrard and Pennington might be pushing it, but then again, we could probably come up with a few more 15s and 16s in place of them.

The point really should be that he has the potential to be viable NFL starter if given an opportunity to succeed.

I’d take him on as McNabb/Kolb’s backup if we had the opportunity, and I’d let Zorn be our QB coach if Shurmur moved on. Take that for what you will. :)

Oh yeah

I’d take him as a backup too. He would definitely be serviceable in an emergency situation. I just dont really see his potential as a long term starter.

Eagles vs. Redskins

This was in a Brian Dawkins story, but I thought it illustrated the difference between an owner who knows his role, and, well, Daniel Snyder:

And when asked if he was confident everything had been done to retain Dawkins, Lurie said this: "I don’t have an answer to that, except that I trust the guys that were involved in it, and Andy [Reid]."

Hofmann also asked Lurie if he ever told the team’s braintrust to do whatever it took to keep Dawkins, and Lurie said "it doesn’t work that way."
