Around SBN: Tiger Woods Makes His 2012 PGA Tour Debut

Denver VS Philadelphia

Hi Philly fans,

I am a long time Broncos fan stuck in York for the past 20 years.  I much prefer Philadelphia Eagles to the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Baltimore Ravens, and even the Washington Redskins as so called "LOCAL" teams go.

Star-divide

I think this is going to be one heck of a game coming up.  Both teams have shown the ability to suck, and also to be awesome.  The big question is which team will show up for each City??  Of course my hopes are for the Broncos.  Let's talk about it.  What do you think?  What are your chances of taking your division after the Cowboys win against the Saints?  Lots going on for the playoffs!

Hey guys – keep in mind that the Eagles have a HUGE divisional game tonight. At least give them a couple of days before they start thinking about the Broncos! :)

THanks but

Redskins-Giants has devolved into Chiefs-Raiders

We’re more interested in discussing the return of a legendary Eagle…Correll Buckhalter

jk

Actually, a question I have for you is how has Dawkins looked against SD’s megatron receivers? He had a tough time against guys like Larry Fitzgerald last year, and Vincent Jackson is a beast. Do you think he has the footspeed to keep Desean Jackson in front of him?

by tanman5 on Dec 22, 2009 10:47 AM EST up reply actions

Not sure about the speed

We have a great secondary and there will be help. Dawkins has been a great asset this year as well as a team leader and we fans hope he will bring it!! Buck is questionable and we sure need him. I really hope he plays.

Opinions are like......, Well anyway, this is mine.

by Sean in Pa. on Dec 22, 2009 10:56 AM EST up reply actions

Interesting

Yeah Jackson has embarassed some safeties this year but of course we’re talking about a future Hall-of-Famer here.

Good to see Buck find a niche for himself. He was always in Westbrook’s shadow here, though he had some big games when Westbrook was injured.

I am not the best writer so I took this off the MHR site to post here
Going into Philadelphia isn’t going to be easy. On defense, shutting down the run is absolutely essential if this team wants to win. If the Eagles can’t run the ball, they’ll be forced to pass which is the defense’s strength. After watching a few Eagles’ highlights throughout this year, one thing caught my attention…Donovan McNabb’s ability to run the ball. If a receiver isn’t open down field, McNabb will run the ball. Denver is going to have to keep a spy on McNabb if they’re going to shut down Philly’s offense.

DeSean Jackson is a deep threat. Our corners are going to need all the help they can get from the safeties. Going with man coverage probably isn’t the best idea, unless a safety is dropped back in coverage (another thing I noticed while watching the Eagles’ highlights). McNabb picks man coverage apart, resulting in big gains. To counter Philly’s deep attack, they should use zone blitzes in order to get pressure on McNabb, resulting in either a sack or an interception.

Philadelphia also bases their passing game off of how well they run the ball. They use play actions to fool the safeties and if they have a receiver open deep, McNabb will go to him. If he isn’t open, McNabb can tuck and run. If Denver shuts their running game down, the defense will less likely be drawn into the play fake.

To sum up my keys to the game…

1) Shut down the Eagles’ rushing attack.

2) Get pressure on Donovan McNabb and force him into making mistakes.

3) Don’t let DeSean Jackson get open down field (or don’t let him get open AT ALL).

I really think these are the keys to our game. there was more and if you want to read it you can find it here…..

Opinions are like......, Well anyway, this is mine.

by Sean in Pa. on Dec 22, 2009 4:09 PM EST reply actions

All the attention is going to be on Dawkins

But Dumervil is going to be the key.

Against the Cowboys, the Eagles were unable to capitalize on some open receivers because Demarcus Ware had a good game.

If Dumervil is constantly in the backfield, it will throw a wrench in the Eagles’ offensive plans.

However, Jason Peters is healthy and an elite left tackle. Dumervil vs. Peters will be a key matchup.

by tanman5 on Dec 22, 2009 6:34 PM EST up reply actions

As long as our OL keeps doing what they have been for the past month

then we will be fine, it’ll come down to our skill players.

thats Cobb on Kolb crime if you ask me... as said by yophillybro

by wild_eagle on Dec 22, 2009 6:50 PM EST up reply actions

Yes

My thinking exactly. For Both Teams! Our O-line has been exposed and we must work to defeat that, we can as we were able to run early on (of course we = the Broncos). Dawkins will be key and I think he will be wanting to have a big game and hopefully the defense will be backing him up. Buckhalter is going to be key as well. I just cant even imagine the feeling of having two ex – players come to town. I know you are conflicted between wanting them to play well and wanting to win…..
What a game we have!!!!! :-D

Opinions are like......, Well anyway, this is mine.

by Sean in Pa. on Dec 22, 2009 7:06 PM EST up reply actions

nope, the second they left they became the enemy...

But it pretty much falls on the eagles Defense, and basically McNabbs play.

Doom is a beast. but

Pressure is a two edged sword against Philly. Dumerville will have a big job against D McN….. I just hope he is up to it

Good luck to all who have finals on here, still. I finished mine last tuesday, so I know the pain.
