Wow...

The Cowboys complete the impossible and crush the Saints hopes of a perfect season with a 24-17 win.

Star-divide

The football world was shocked tonight as the New Orleans Saints go 13-1 on the season. The Cowboys played exceptional football unlike their current December streak.

The Cowboys now have two tough teams ahead though if they want to move into the playoffs. They play a improved Redskins, a game that will be very close and then our Eagles the final week.

These Cowboys look like a worthy adversary, and it could come down to the Eagles game to see who wins the NFC East.

Things that scare me about the Cowboys:

  • Improved reliance in the running game, especially in the red zone
  • Play Action to Miles Austin
  • Defense can pressure a very good offense

I hate Drew Brees....I realy do

For 14 straight weeks I’ve wished failure upon him and the Saints. And now, in the one game where I wanted to see him help pad the Eagles division lead….he loses. But in fairness, the Saints haven’t been playing great the last few games. Perhaps good news for the NFC that maybe the Saints are coming down to Earth a bit. Don’t get me wrong, they are still very, very good….but not as unstoppable as many people thought.

meant to add to that previous statement...

If the Falcons or the Redskins pulled out their games against the saints would we be saying how a great they are now that they beat the saints? No, we’d say the saints have been slipping so they threw out a stinker. If you want to convince me of the dominance of the Cowboys, they should have destroyed the Saints by scoring on every position and keeping the saints at 3 points, which they couldn’t do.

This game didn’t tell us anything new about the cowboys. Spencer and Ware can rush the QB – I’m shocked SHOCKED to find that out. I didn’t realize they were any good did you? It was also apparent that the Saints LT was out matched, but Peyton didn’t give him any help all night.

Miles Austin also turned out to be decent WR in this game, crazy huh? Did you know who Miles Austin was? That play they used for the first touchdown, is similar to a play I think they used to get Asante to bite when they played us earlier in the season.

The saints have shown their weakness on the defensive side of the ball and have allowed teams to put up big numbers against them. Usually though, the offense can out score the other team, which is something we’ve known all season.

So yeah, are the Cowboys a good team with a lot of weapons – yeah, but it’s something we knew before the game. I still think the Eagles are the better team, so it doesn’t matter what Dallas does, they’re still going to lose on week 17, and as long as we take care of our business, we’ll win the division.

The Cowboys played a hell of a game, but I don’t think anyone that’s been watching the Saints stutter all season really thought they’d have enough stored up luck to go 16-0. Also, I can’t believe everyone is so utterly appalled that the Cowboys won.

The cowboys winning means the eagles have to just beat the 49ers and there into the playoffs…

meh this was a long time coming the Saints have barely escaped Washington and Atlanta the last two weeks and before that the Rams gave them a run for their money. They aren’t unstoppable and it was only a matter of time before they were beaten.
